taking door handles off?

i want to take my exterior door handles off basically. it looks like there is some sort of glue holding them on. what should i use to seal the door handles back on? will a heat gun work to melt the glue for removal?

 

I would think so, never done it though, I'm sure 3m makes something to put em back on, or silicone caulking maybe, not too sure though.

 

They are held in by torx screws. For the front door you can see it on the side of the door when you open it. For the rear doors you need to take the interior door panels off to access the screws.

 

prolly just get some black silicone or something. good idea thx.

 

no prob, maybe gorilla glue with black silicone, make it bullet proof, unless you need to take the handle off again haha.

 

They are not held on by glue at all.... See my post above...

 

lol iono they are the orig door handles(1997) still so if they break ever it would suck to not be able to replace them.

are u talking about a 1st gen? i only have 2 door handles and i can see the glue between the door handle and door. there are also screws holding the handles i think (behind the door panel)

 

Damnit sorry I was talking about 2nd gen. Im on my phone so I easily get lost sorry.

 

im pretty sure that glue is aftermarket or someone did that to seal it up. mine are just screws behind the door panel..

 

yep..take the door panel off, then the two rods that are for the locks, and then 2 screws and out pops the handle
