Polk Audio Speakers

I'm thinking about either buying a pair of Polk Audio DXI691 or MM691 to replace the stock front speakers. Anyone else have them in their taco? Just trying to get some feedback.

 

I have them but you'll need an amp to see any difference. They're rated for 125W continuous. Mine didn't sound much better with the stock radio.

 

all of my speakers are the mm series and running the 400.1 for the doors and a mono 975 watt amp for my 10's. i think mine sounds excelllent. have the 6.5 components in the front and the 2 way co axs in the rear. thinking about putting in a set of twwets in the rear door.

 

I went with Focal component in all my doors, 75w to each and 200w to a 10" (alpine PDX-5) and it sounds really clean. I had Polks in my dash when I had my dodge and they sounded pretty crisp. Havent used ther components. I wouldnt imagin there being a huge dif w/out running an amp to your speakers. It would be better to spend some extra $$ and do it right if you are going to do it at all. Another idea is to go to somewhere like Car Toys or Best Buy and listen to them, turn the amp way down to get a feel for what they might sound like with low wattage. I dont know what gets pushed stock but I would bet its not enough power to make it worth your time unless you get an amp to.

 

I have the DXI691's in front doors and the 651's in rear doors running off a Clarion HU 52x4 watts and sounds great. Added a Infinity Basslink sub and the system sounds great.

I used[/FONT] Jl Audio TR690-TXI TR series 6x9's in the front. They are very good as well.

 

Iv'e got the mm 6501 in the front and mm 650 rear with 2x8" under the rear seat . I love the speakers but do agree you realy need an amp to run the 6.5s . I put the dxi coax 6.5 s in the wifes fj hooked to factory h/u and even though the overall s/q was better she lost alot of bass response ( not enough power and we added a powered sub from crutchfield to round the system out ) . I have an alpine pdx 5 amp with a pxe-h660 processor running mine and even with the windows down running mud terrain tires all I can hear is crystal clear sound .

 

I have MM6501's in the front. They sound good.

First I switched the HU to a JVC KD-A815 (20W RMS output). Sounded much better than the stock radio w/stock speakers. I do not know the output on the stock radio.

Put in the Polk MM6501's. Sounded better. I do not have an amp or sub... yet. I think the speakers would sound better with an amp.

So far the biggest bang for the buck was changing the HU.

Thanks much for the replies! I'm going to finally get the speakers put in and am either going to install a Pioneer P4300DVD or a JVC HU with a fosgate P400 this weekend.
