If you don't want advice or ideas, then don't post your problems seeking solutions. Your the one bragging about messing with a new truck that is under warantee.

I would suggest rereading my first post I know the thing is broken if I did not have to drive the truck I would have been glad to have them come fetch it how ever life does not all ways work out the way we like I am afraid towing a 1 ton trailer 300 miles with my VW was out of the question. If it was stuck in 4 wheel low the story would have been different. The only reason I even posted it I thought it may have been of interest to others because it 's kind of bazaar and when it if repaired I will post the results.

Ok first replacing sesor should be quick and easy. should not cost $1000, you can do that on your own driveway, but I doubt the system would not allow 4x4 due to bad speed sensor. You can always try cleaning the sensor first and see if that helps.
Also you can use heater relay to test 4x4 and bypass 4wd computer for it. Steps are in FSM

EDIT: but the proper way is to test for power when the switch is in 4wd position.

If it had sensor problems seems like it would throw a ABS code.

Get use to it about once a month I have to get a buddy with a FORD to pull me out because mine wont lock into 4x4. I am still trying to buy that old ford. Its got sticks no buttons no round knobs and always works.

Before you replace anything I would test 4wd computer and see if you can get system to lock up through relay. Its simple test and it will tell you if you have problem with actuators or 4wd computer.
