hi! i was in a gun store pretty far from me and i saw a gun vault made by titan security products that had an awesome sticker. it was a warning to police that the vault is private property and the owner does not and will not consent to a search of the vault and to contact the owner's attorney at ____________. if the cop has any questions. <-- that's not the complete sticker or exact words, i'm going off of memory. i've looked all over their website for that sticker, and google for a sticker like it. i've sent their customer service rep's an email with no reply. so my hope is that someone has that gun vault and or a similar sticker / notice. and can send me a picture of the words. so i can make my own.

    thanks!

Why bother?? Just don't consent if/when the cops ask to search. If they have a reason to search anyways-Your sticker doesn't mean anything. If they don't have probable cause and you say "I don not consent to any searches" then it's all over.

You realize the sticker will mean nothing right? If they ask you to search, they will go by your answer, not a sticker. If they have a reason to search, they won't care about some dumb sticker either.

Also, why are you so worried about LE searching your center console? Everyone likes their privacy, but most people don't spend all day worrying about a search.

Actually- That is a really sticky situation- Cause you can rescind your consent at any time. I would say there is an argument to be made that sticker does just that. But at the same time-Looks really awkward on the OPs part.

it's not that easy here in CA. i've had 2 run ins with ILLEGAL searches.

the first time on the way back from the range i was arrested for having an unloaded gun in my trunk, i told the cop NO when he asked if he could search my car. and he said, well i'm going to anyways. when i asked him why he said don't worry about it. when we were in court he told the judge that he saw a pocket knife laying on my back seat so that gave him the right. when i told the judge that i told him that it was an illegal search she basically said it's my word against his but it looks like i was trying to carry it legally/ safely and gave me 10 days of cal trans.

the second time was easier, on the way to dinner i was lost at night in a pitch back neighborhood and sheriff rolled up on me and without saying anything they opened both of my doors and yanked me out, frisked me, threw me in cuffs and in the back of their car. one cop stayed in the patrol car with me while the other searched my car, as soon as he popped my trunk i told him to tell his partner to get out of my trunk or we will have a problem. as soon as i said that i will call an attorney he told his partner to get out of my car. and i was on my way without a ticket.

if i had that sticker/ decal in my car, the first time i could have proved to the judge that not only did i NOT consent to a search, i have it plastered to the interior of my car.

I doubt the sticker will change anything. I'm not going to debate the legality of either of those searches...but if you were in cuffs they usually have the right to get into the truck if they arrested you out of the truck. The second one sounds shady on the part...

I doubt the sticker will help you much in either of those cases-cause it's still a he said this-he said that you had the sticker in there before.

You can rescind consent at any time, however a sticker isn't rescinding consent. It's kind of like when a lawyer walks into a police station and states they are invoking their client's right to speak with an attorney prior to questioning. It doesn't make any difference, and they aren't going to be allowed to speak with their client.

"Uhh, the guy says I can search his car, but a sticker in his car says I can't. Who do I listen to, the guy or the sticker?!?!?!"

    That sticker is useless.

But if you have nothing to hide, then there is nothing wrong with consenting to a search.

Though I expect the officer to put things back in.

your best bet is to start the voice recorder on your phone when you get pulled over. In traffic court you're 99% likely to lose, but things like carrying a gun you should be able to push into a higher court, in which you have a jury and ACTUAL judge and a recording will be more helpful in this scenario. its better than "i had a sticker that told them not to do that".

No, Your best bet is to be with in the law and not worry about it. My hand gun is in the console at all times. When that cop brings my 28/29 up on his screen he knows before he ever gets out of his car that I have a CWP. If your not doing anything wrong it isn't real likely that you will be busted.

nope, the first time the cop took apart my interior panels (A,B,&C pillar moldings) tore up and cut the trunk molding, pulled out the wires to my amps and sub. almost broke my center console door by bending it back all the way, disassembled all the plastic molding under the dash. there's a lot more that was done but there's too much to list. all of this was done before he found my gun in my trunk, my gun was tucked away so deep that he had to remove my sub and amps to get to it cause he didn't know that my back seat could flip down. when i got my car back my hood and fenders were misaligned and one of my headlights had all this black glue around it like they took apart my headlight and put it back together.

apparently all of this for a pocket knife in the back seat that was not within reach.

i was trying my best to stay within the law. all i know is that in CA to transport a gun the gun and ammo have to be separate and one or the other in the trunk and one in the glove box or in a designated box. my trunk was locked too, he had to use my keys to get into it.

I would get his badge number and report him to the county (or city) and bill them for the repair.
