snapped antenna off

someone snapped my antenna off at the base in the mall parking lot . my idiot brother tried to remove what was left and screwed up the base it screws into drilled right through it and the wire its connected too anyone know how much a new antenna is goona cost and how hard it will be to replace it

 

Try looking at trdparts4u.com. If it's #4 or #3, it shouldn't be too expensive.

 

yeah they arent too bad, 30 some bucks or something. Im on my 4th one. Ive snapped 3 of them while hunting, wheeling, etc.

 

do they have shorter ones? I hit mine on the garage door.

 

yeah you can find shorter ones on ebay for pretty damn cheap and they are only like 11" long to like 14" or something

 

do they work as well. i get great reception with my radio tower antenna.

 

I bought a stubbie from performance products. It's beefy as hell (doesn't really move) and works great. I think I got the 14"

 

It depends. Do you live in a bigger city or a place where you get reception pretty good because there are radio stations all around. Or are you located somewhere decolate where there isnt much around at all? I live where there arent many radio stations around at all and the nearest ones are 100 miles away and I dont get them with the stubbie, had to go back to the stock ones.

 

I have the 11" one. The reception isn't as good as the stock one but it's not much worse. Given the same materials, the taller the antenna, the better the reception. Like colvilletacoma said, if you have a bunch of radio stations in your area, it's not bad. If you already have poor reception, it probably won't improve with a shorter one.

 

yeah exactly. Its a little worse but then again it won hit your garage and its a little less noticeable
