is this still safe to use?

I've seen rounds like that before. It's probably OK, but I wouldn't be comfortable firing any round that was questionable-looking in any circumstance- it's not worth the potential consequence.

 

its just pushed into the casing a little to far..You'd probbaly be ok, but dont chance it. I bet everyone here has fired a round that wasnt perfect and never even realized it.

 

i wouldnt im guessing its your first time reloading?

 

it will still fire fine but it wont have the same ballistic qualities

 

i thought bullet set back was a big problem.........

 

yup but this is the only defect out of the 600 (+/- 10) i made.

It could jam up on you with a quick rapid fire. Depends on what your firing with. I wouldn't use the two different rounds in the same magazine. Its not going to break anything or hurt your though. Just when the round pushes forward out of the top of the magazine it might freeze up...

 

In a pistol cartridge this would cause higher pressures and be potentially unsafe. I don't know if it's as important in a rifle cartridge with the greater internal volume.

yea just set it aside in a box i have a few trash bullets i need to get a bullet thrower so i can reuse the stuff

nope, i'm just loading in between the min and max stated in the reloading guide.

the guide says minimum is 23.5grs. and maximum is 25.1grs. with a 55gr. bullet using hodgdon varget powder. i put in 24.5grs.
