Good to know. I plan on doing a nice setup for the rear, similar to those pictures, with some coil overs in the front. How much do you think they have in the rear, $3000?... including install?

 If purchased new that thing has over $3000 in shocks and air bumps alone, then add in the leaf springs, shackles, fabrication, etc.

Doing a rear setup is not cheap, but you can usually find deals on used shocks if you're willing to spend the time and/or money to rebuild them.

I thought you were looking for that exact setup with the 3" shocks mentioned above.

Very easy to do this on the cheap. Honestly, you could get away with running All Pro's 3" springs, u-bolt flip, and Fox reservoir shocks in the rear for a very functional rock setup. Figuring out the air bump will be a custom job, but the money you'd save by not doing a bed cage will more than cover that expense.

I was thinking low-mid price wise, not super cheap :D. For example: the Engage bed cage, the shocks mentioned above, with a custom leaf pack and the ATO shackle flip. I would like to run bypasses in the rear, so I could run a progressive rear setup. What do you think?

The main problem I have is finding someone local who has the experience to do a setup like this. Most of the shops around here work on Jeeps exclusively. There is a shop about 3hrs away that could get it done, but it will be a while before I have a truck and trailer.

I was thinking of eventually, Engage Bedcage (or similar), 2.5 or 3.0 Triple Bypasses (depends how overkill I feel), Light racing jounce-stops (takes away the need for custom bump fabricating), ATO shackle flip, and Custom Leafpack, figured it'd be a decent all purpose setup!

Jounce Shocks will not work with a shackle flip. I know first hand.

Also, to clear 3.0" bypass shocks you're going to be running stupidly wide wheel spacers unless you mount the shocks inside the frame rails. Again, I know first hand.

Oh yeah, and you're not going to clear the jounce shocks with 3" triple bypass shocks. The mounts in the stock location are huge and interfere with the shocks.

Oh yeah, when you look at pictures it makes sense, so would you say custom build mounts with King or Fox Bumps is the way to go?! (With or without 3.0 shocks)

there's no way you are going to need to run 3.0 shocks... 2.5's will be more than enough

you'll never fully use the 3.0's so you basically will be giving yourself a headache for nothing trying to get them to fit and then you're throwing money away too on extra shock that's not needed

yeah... you could pick up some air bumps with the extra money you would save by getting 2.5's instead of the 3.0's...

The 3.0 vs 2.5 argument has a few twists once you build your truck up. My truck was so heavy when built that the 2.5 shocks heated up a lot faster than anyone thought they would. Many guys were suprised but said that the weight of my truck justified a bigger shock. I almost bought 3.0s right before I sold the truck.

3.0s will pay off if your truck is heavy and you abuse it for an extended period of time. In Mike's case its a no brainer to go 3.0s since he races it. If your going to go all out with the truck anyway (caged, full tilt build) then the extra weight and performance of a 3.0 shock makes a lot more sense. They will run cooler and take bigger hits with less valving than a 2.5.

If your never going to go fast then by all means run the 2.5s.

    ^^^ very good point Matt

i should have clarified it depends on how far one build's their truck and how much extra weight is added to it

Yea, it'd be an all purpose as desert is kinda rare around here, so 2.5 would probably be fine, I'd think!
