swirls are gone

so i learned if you try to put polishing compound on your black taco by hand and think your doing a great job then come to work the next day and look at the side i finished and go holy crap look at my swirls. My solution was went to detailer spent 50 bucks and got car wash and wax whole truck with buffer and waaaalaaaaa no swirls and best looking taco in the state. just sayin....

 

They will come back the wax just hides them. It takes a lot of work to remove swirls on black and i don't think a detailer is going to do that for 50 bucks.

My bad but a detailer is got going to spend the time it take to remove swirls for 50 bucks there going to put on a paint sealant that will just hide them for a few months.

 

you can actually apply a compound that "melts" the clearcoat into the swirls and makes them pretty much dissapear, this is done by a detail shop, or someone that knows how to use a buffing wheel without melting the clearcoat off the paint

 

Yeah I know a light rubbing compounds applied with foam pads at a low RPMs done in steps will diminish the swirls but that's not a $50 dollar job i know when i detailed cars we would charge 199.99 to remove swirls on black paint and that's 10 years ago. And for 29.95 we would just hide them for you with a paint sealant.

 

for 50 dollars, it was probably a filler heavy glaze. Although, Arkansas probably doesnt pull the same amount for a detail that the larger cities/states will, I'd still be shocked if there was proper correction for that price. Around here, for a correction job, on a truck, you'd be looking at at least 4-500 +

No way i would do a full correction for 50 bucks. Agreed that he probably used a glaze with a filler and some wax on top of that. If your happy with it and willing to go back every 2-3 months to have it reapplied then your truck will stay shiny.

 

What is this glaze of which you speak? Sounds like it's just the thing for all that "sierra pin striping" I've got on my Black. So what if I have to reapply it every few months? I reapply the pin striping every few months too.

At the moment I'm using Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0.

Use this glaze and top it with a durable wax like Collinite 845 so the glaze won't wear off. This should last you 3 to 4 months.
