$850 for a TAG!?!?!?

I was so mad at first that I started to not even post this , but you guys are making me feel better about it , some of you guys pay high sales tax! Just still pissed at the salesman for driving the truck for a year without buying a tag and it falls on me....but theres nothing that I can do about it now. Thanks Guys

 

That alone might not be legal.

 

Not that it helps, but what he did by borrowing the dealership plate and driving his personal vehicle with them attached is technically illegal. Dealer plates (at least in AZ) are for dealer owned vehicles only. I know firsthand, I work at a dealership and drive used cars with a dealer plate everyday. We had a tech who was doing a similar thing, he got pulled over and told the cop he wasn't actually working on his car he was just using the plates. They confiscated the plate and he got fired because of it. Sounds like the salesman just got lucky and you got screwed.

 

Had to pay $1900 in sales tax here (CO) and $400 just for the liscense plate+tag.

Is this where the salesman writes $10000 on the bill of sale and you pay the remaining $9800 in cash?

 

I've been told by tons of people and seen them do it , change the Bill Of Sale to a low price to avoid high sales tax , But.....I was switching my Silverado tag over to the Tacoma and had the paperwork from the bank with the price of the truck so couldn't change that price. This is just venting over a salesman that owned the truck and went for a year avoiding buying a tag and I have to pay the penalty
