Best reviews for leveling kits. shooting for 31s

my 09 reg cab tacoma is 4wd and im looking for some bigger shoes but nothing crazy for mud explorations or anything to that extent, just better traction for when i go trail riding. i still travel a bunch so whats a good median between trail riding (hard packed dirt) and interstate miles for tires.

 

I'm always a fan of a new leveling kit opinion thread but before 25 ppl send you a link to the search button, did you look around the site at all? There is a ton of threads that could really help narrow down your options.

 

Shooting for 31's? didn't your truck come stock with 31's? You can fit 32s without a lift even.

And leveling kits can damage your suspension and/or give you a terrible ride. Do a little searching around here. There are much better options for almost the same price.

 

personally i would not use a spacer kit they destroy your ride. Blisten 5100 shocks is what many taco drivers use to level their trucks. The front pair are adjustable and can lift the front end up to 2.5" and the rear will lift the back end up 1" if you want at least a slight rake.

 

The rear 5100s do NOT provide any lift.

This is my understanding I could be wrong though. If shock 'A' has a length of 'X' inches and shock 'B' has a length of X+1 inches then shock B will cause the vehicle to sit 1" higher.

a shocks purpose is to dampen sudden "shocks' to the suspension. no matter the length. a longer shock is needed when the suspension is modified to which the factory shock doesnt have adequate travel

 

I have a RevTech 2.5 spacer up front.. makes it sit nice and level and I run 32.5" BFG A/T tires.. The ride is still great and I love the tires.


BUT I think I will spend the extra coin and buy Bilstein 5100s when I hit 85K miles. The leveling kit was WAY cheaper and could have been installed myself in a about 2 hours.

 

if anything a longer shock on stock suspension would hurt the ride quality because it wouldnt allow the suspension to compress enough. im not positive if thats the case with the rear billy 5100s though.

 

x2. The only reason that the front 5100's give lift is because they move the spring perch up, causing the coilover spring to be preloaded. It's the same way a spacer provides lift. The shocks are not any longer than stock.

 

I also want to level the front end trying not to buy coilovers anyone have experience with just adding eibach 1.6" coil springs or ome coils with 1.1/5" lift and a 1/4" spacer for the driver side want a comfortable ride like stock.

 

Look around bud, those are the 2 most common set-ups on here. Myself included with he eibachs and 5100's.

The eibachs are on backorder last i heard so you'd be better off going with the OME set-up, plus ive heard better things about the nitrochargers over 5100's being to stiff, especially with the eibach coils. only difference being that the nitro's aren't adjustable and 5100's are. Either will be a step above stock though & if you get the 5100's you can always use your stock coils and still have a nice ride!

 

Does anyone know which would be a more comfortable ride 5100's with stock springs or ome or eibach 1 1/2 springs with stock bilstien shocks.

 

most likely the OME's with one of their springs 881, 882, 883. Someone will chime in for sure on which will give the best ride. The eibach springs have a 650 lb rate which will be stiff on road but offroad they ride really good on washboard type roads, but with added weight from say a winch and bumper they should ride way better on and offroad.

 

Does anyone know which one is more comfortable of a ride bilstien 5100s with stock springs or eibach or ome 1.5 lift springs with stock bilstiens only tring to level truck.

 

Go with OME nitrochargers with one of their coils for a smoother ride but slightly pricier.

Go with 5100's and stock coils @ 1.5 setting for a cheaper and better ride than stock!
