Changed the carrier bearing today. Was gettting tired of that "twang" noise. Had to take out the old drop bracket that the previous owner fab'd and put in some temporary nut spacers. Anyone know where to get a drop bracket?
Still having some vibrations in the drivetrain, kinda like a humming that i can feel under my foot. Not to sure how to solve that

Just finished putting on my UWS toolbox. I didnt like that they only sent me to J hooks to mount the entire box down with, so I went to the hardware store and got some nuts and bolts and bolted it downthrough the bed rails. Its very stout and not going anywhere.

Nope. I just think they are a little too firm for my liking on a daily driver. Only about 7k miles. I will be selling them. Anyone near Sacramento interested in a deal?

Well, long story, but I only have the rear ones on so far. I removed the front assemblies and took them to my local shop to R&R the coils with their 6-million-lb compressor, and we discovered the upper retainer under the top plate was MIA. Like, the last guy tossed them! I was pissed. They would not seat correctly--lateral and vertical play. I went to the dealer a few blocks away--not in stock, special order, one in LA, one in SF, can have them Thursday...

It was enough to make me do a little MTGirl dance :goingcrazy::rant::annoyed:.

So he put the one 5100 back together and I brought them home and put them back in until next weekend, when I get to do it all over again. At least it's a lot f'ing easier than the leafs.

Observations so far: hard to tell with them just in the back. I think they do feel a little softer, but the real test will be up front with the 881s. I compressed them side by side with a 5100 on the garage floor, and the Nitros compressed a more easily and mroe quickly. Clearly the 5100s are firmer by this test. The Nitros were easier to install than the 5100s.

wow, what a nightmare. I love the way my rear handles:eek:, but the front end is a bit stiff IMO. Maybe it's time to start saving my pennies again:rolleyes:

Today: picked up the damn special-order retainers from Toyota so I can install the front Nitrochargers this weekend.

And dropped it off with the mobile detailer in my office's parking lot for a wash, claybar, and wax to get ready for summer...if it ever arrives.
