Annual OR/WA TSF Camping and Wheeling Shindig

Fixed. I don't know who all is in that caravan, can I make you the 'leader' of that? Basically I just need someone who knows how to get to the McD's, knows how to get into camp, and can tell everyone when to gather up and roll out from McD's.

 

If we plan to camp on Saturday night do we need to reserve a spot? Or will there be room in the spots that you guys already have?

Spots are on a first-come basis. I haven't seen where it fills up.

I'm not sure what you mean by that simply because there's two unloading areas.
The first area is located at the first left as you come off HWY 6, where we gathered to air down last time. That is not camp.
the second area is located further in, and is next to camp. When you do a google map search for "Brown's Camp, OR", it drops a marker directly on top of this spot. It is also easy to find when you get there, you simply follow the signs that point to Brown's Camp.

This map shows the directions that connect the two spots.

I was hoping that the caravan would leave at 8am to 8:30. It takes about 30min to get to camp. I anticipate another 30min of chatting and unloading, so hopefully 9am or so we can do some form of an orientation and split up groups. I'd really like to hit trails by 10 at latest and with the idea that lunch is eaten during a trail break.

Thanks Mike, that helps a lot. What CB channel are you normally on? We can start hollering when we get close.

 

it's kind of random depending on what you can get for a clear channel, there's several groups out there sometimes. The low teens are usually used by the logging companies, I say we try 22?

Zach, if you lead caravan 2 I need you to confirm what time you plan on leaving from McD's so we can be ready at camp.

 

Is Zach going to be the leader of Caravan 2? I thought he was still a maybe on this one?

 

It is a 3.5 to 4 hour commute for us. The plan is to get there as early as possible. 8-8:30 should be doable.

 

Are you coming from Washington for a Saturday day trip? That is an early morning and a long day! I thought my 2 hour drive from Corvallis was bad.

 

Who's all planning on camping Friday till Sunday? Serms like evryone is going just for Saturday.

 

22 will work. Happens to be the one we use all the time.

Yeah, its going to be a long day but we are going to camp with you guys and head back sometime on Sunday.

 

Zach, As leader of caravan 2, you determine those times. from the sounds of it, you have made the following decisions:

1. Caravan 2 is leaving McD's at 8am. People who arrive after that time better know how to get there themselves (granted, you can give a bit of time for stragglers, but you need to set expectations.)

2. Caravan 2 is arriving at camp at 8:30 to 8:45.

The reason we have to have hard times set is because there's no cell service in camp, so you can't tell me status. The rest of us at camp can't tell if you 5 minutes late, 15 minutes late.... or an hour late. If we at camp think that Caravan 2 is taking too long, we'll most likely send off the first group to go hit trails.

 

I'm in all days. I think chazjb is busy with some personal stuff right now, but last I heard he's in all days.

If you guys burn out early you can always hit camp before the end of the day, or we can circle back to camp and pick you up as passengers.

 

Think it'll end up being just as much snow as last time when we get there? This weather sucks.

 

I think we'll be OK. We've done long days like this before. Besides, its wheelin, never get tired on the trail.

 

On the scouting trip there wasn't enough snow for a snowman, but apparently there's somewhere where you can run into 3 feet of the stuff?
