Has a solution been found for our Tacomas to do a 2LO mod?

    Thanks!

    Thanks & Ouch! Too bad.
I am wondering why Toyota does not want us to have this, there are quite a few obvious uses for it!

Yeah, but I personally don't care much about IFS / SFA since I don't wheel my truck (but I understand that others would prefer a SFA). I don't see how this 2LO is related to the IFS vs. SFA question though. The 2LO thing would just be a change in how the electronics is programmed, no? It would not result in any drawbacks for those who don't need it / don't use it. A SFA does have it's disadvantages, right?
I would love 2LO for backing our (soon to be bought) travel trailer up our (steep) driveway while having to turn. It would make it much easier on the clutch ...

Couldn't you interrupt the electronics that activate the ADD and put them on a separate switch? That way, when you go to 4Hi or 4Lo, you'd still be in 2wd since the ADD wouldn't be activated? I have no idea how much work that would be or if it's even possible, but it sounds plausable in my head.

It can be done with switches. (2010 Reg Cab 4x4 2.7 5speed) Must goto 4h then 4l then unlock Add. I use this every day backing to building I live in. Put DPDT switch inline from on 2 wire going to Add (It acts like miniature vacuum pump to work). Up position like normal down position. From bottom of the first switch connect two wire to center of another DPDT momentary switch connect to 12V source at one end and reverse the polarity at the other end. This switch makes the Add actuator lock or unlock depending on the polarity connected. If you forget to return control to 4wd computer, it will flash and do nothing, just put first DPDT switch in normal position and try again (Move 4wd switch back to 4l). The Add actuator locks with a pulse of 12v polarity and unlocks with a pulse of the opposite 12v polarity. Much electronic mumbo jumbo in here, but must know basics to make this work. The wiring was not pretty, but I planning on driving truck in to the ground, so trade in value is of no concern

lol thats what i do with my first gen stick shift. put it in 2 low and its much easier. expecially since i have a pretty dam short trailer (harder to back up) so being able to go slower is really nice

Sure wish I had 2Lo this past weekend. I was backing up my travel trailer into a steep stall and needed lower gearing. I ended up puting it into 4Lo, but really wished I didn't have to do that on concrete. It was only 10-15 feet or so, so it wasn't too bad
