Bike Mounts

Guise,

I've seen the thread here before, but cant find in the search.

I'm looking for a site that sells the bike mounts that work with the rail system. Similar to these:

but are made for our rails?

I think you could use those if you wanted. Just put a washer and nut inside the rail and tighten away. Could be wrong but pretty sure I've seen people do that on this forum.

 

Yes they work with our rails. There is hardware that uses the 2 holes on each end if you buy them from rockymounts dot com. Torx bolt and threaded plate that slides into rail. Great price in that link tho. They also sell locking skewers. Here's mine newly transferred from the 05 to the 08 on either side of the cooler..........

I like the idea of these. Can they be flipped so the bracket doesn't sit on top of the bed rail but sit below the bed rail?

I have the rockymounts....very solid...just hate taking the wheel off. I end up just laying the bike in the bed.

just get any mount, with a combo of screws and washers, you have a mount.

 

My 29 does not fit in my short bed with both wheels on, so this is the best I could come up with, especially with two bikes.

Thanks OP for the link. I ordered a pair of them today.

 

Here's my set up, took my old Yakima roof racks and made some brackets to work with the bed track system. Works great and leaves plenty of room below for camping gear and what not. Super sturdy and everything locks up too.

 

heres mine ... toyota's screwed on to bed cleat. no lock but holds up fine for me

 

I don't think so, but I never tried.

 

I got two of these to haul our tandem MTBs. I had them mounted on the rail but the bikes were hitting the bed extender.

I moved these to the bed floor. Much better and more solid mount for the heavier bike.

I did take the Rocky Mounts rail adapters and use them on one low cost non locking mount. Worked very good.

My previous method of mounting the inexpensive fork mount was with bolts and washers. Not a very secure method. It tends to crush the bed rail when tightened and would sometimes become less secure on dirt roads or if hit hard when loading.

The Rocky Mounts plates never budged.
