MR POTATO HEAD THREAD

Just wanted to share my thoughts on some of the front end set ups of the second gens... This is not a hater thread, just a place to discuss and post pics:

So after browsing the site and looking at everyone's beautiful trucks I started to notice that some trucks just have too much going on up front... Bug guard, bull bar, lights, decals, stickers , badges...

I couldn't help think that some of these trucks look like a mr potato head doll with ALL the pieces crammed on. Has anyone else thought this? Now I'm sure each accessory serves a purpose though!

Mine has nothing up front but I am thinking about driving lights behind the stock grill. Guess I'd be "mr potato head stealth"

Mine's for the 'Boston Bump'. People around here tend to park by touch so I gave them a nice steel grille guard to run into instead of cracking my bumper cover. I added the PIAA's because I do a lot of driving down crap ass back roads and they work very very well. If I ever leave the city, the grille guard is gone, I'm actually not a huge fan but it does it's job well.

I haven't really noticed people trying to cram needless things on the front of their trucks. Huge, chrome, bull bars, make me want to gag though.

Boston bump? Must be like the "New York tickle". I would never drive a personal car in New York City. There's a reason the taxis have big 'ol black rubber bumpers.

 

Yeah, the same reason I have that big 'ol steel guard! I also have a receiver and a shackle in the back in case someone noses up too close. If only people could actually park the cars they drove...

 

Potato head no but perhaps?!

 

I'll try to fond the truck that made me think of this.... I thinks the bug guard has a lot to do with it.

 

Fortunately I haven't been hit that hard yet... Normally they just back up slow until they feel the bump, then pull forward. If I off-roaded at all, I would have gotten a plate bumper but for what I use my truck for it's overkill.

 

Yeah, I know what you mean. I had a bull bar on an older truck that got pushed back and really f-ed up the bumper. That one on mine is just a Hunter Guard but we welded on some reinforcements. It's stainless so it holds up to the salt we have up here also. It'll take a light bump and some brush but you couldn't really push with it. Just a simple and cheap solution to keep people from messing up the front of the truck!
