Personally, I think there's no crime. The kid had a gun. There's a second amendment for a reason.

Why is the white / black thing so important that it is mentioned in the first sentence ?

    Agreed!

    Unfortunately!

    Indeed.

I do not own a gun; though I grew up hunting small game. However, the state of current affairs has got me thinking twice about owning a hand gun. The wife and I are now looking to purchase a hand gun this summer for self defense.

I COMPLETELY SUPPORT SELF DEFENSE and think that when guns are controlled by the government, we will be worse off.

Gun control should be defined as the ability to hit your target EVERY time.

I Liked that supports self defense.

Anybody know where that petition is to sign as well?

    Off my soap box.

The guy defended himself successfully. You step on to his property wielding a gun you just became his bitch. He should be able to do whatever the hell he wants to him.

I can see where the law comes in though, going back for a finish him, might be hard to defend...

6 rounds seems a bit much. Can you imagine though if this kid lived, and had some kind of trauma from the gun shot wounds? Hed be suing this guy. (My dad always says "dead robbers cant sue")

The first shot was to the head, so after that I would have retrieved the robbers gun....

You guys are missing the VERY important point that Ersland didn't just shoot the kid in the moment, in self defense. THAT I SUPPORT.

It's that he went back into the store, retrieved another gun from a drawer and then shot the kid 5 more times after he had already been shot. That was vindictive, over the top and just incredibly stupid of him. He had cleared the store. He and his employees were out of harm's way. He took it upon himself not to then call the cops, but to go back in and finish the job. Absolutely stupidly moronic.

Now that being said, I think the 1st degree murder charge is way over the top. But this guy moved way beyond self defense.

I don't think he should have been jailed. However, he should have just put 6 rounds in him the FIRST time, so that it didn't look as bad

You try to hurt or rob me or the family YOU DIE!!! The guy was stupid to go back and blast him 6874687 times. I see where he is fukd.I guess he got caught up in the moment. So the lesson learned here is to practice your aim and kill with the first shot
