Step-son to be exact. Will sit at the table for hours not wanting to eat his vegtables (literally). The only exception is broccoi.

When he does manage to eat one bite, he makes a face like he's about to puke, then he gags himself, but manages to finish that bite.

Now we are not giving him loads of this to eat, only a spoonful and the rule is that he has to eat this one spoonful to get the rest of his meal.

My wife has tried to appeal to his (biological) father, but he is absolutely no help. He doesn't like any vegtable and says, well, that's the boy's choice. The boy is 10 years old.

How have you guys dealt with this?

I used to have very similar rules.
My daughter is 6 and has gone through these stages. She used to eat anything and everything, then one day nope. I am split up from my daughters mother and don't get her as often as I would like so we feed her to keep her healthy and slightly push new but really foods she used to eat on her. You have to pick your battles because in reality you don't want the kids to know they can (and they will) win some battles with you.

Lets face it there are foods that we don't eat as adults. They (kids) won't like everything. I'm not saying that they can choose not to like something without trying it. Before I will accept my daughter not eating something she has to try it.

I don't have kids, but...how are you serving or preparing them? Freash, or frozen? Take just about any veggie (squash, broccoli, carrots, green beans) toss it in some olive oil, salt, and pepper, roast it in the oven. Everyone likes how fat tastes, and roasting just makes stuff better. Super easy. You can even escalate and put some chopped bacon in...you will all be happier...

You can also do the same with broccoli in a skillet and add some garlic (if he is OK with garlic).

Another approach might be asking what kind he is is willing to try, and how he wants them cooked, and giving him a chance to be a part of the decision, even if it means pouring cheese over them. Look up some recipes online with him?

i am 18, up till about 6 months ago i WOULD NOT eat veggies. they are gross and disgusting. my taste buds have changed a little bit so i can tolerate them. if he doesnt like them, dont make him eat them.

Like suggested, you are going to have to make the veggies savory. Salad dressings like ranch or creamy caesar over steamed or roasted veggies will do it.

Don't make a big issue out of it. Yer just giving him a reason to be defiant. He's only 10. Still a baby. When he gets older and HUNGRY you're gonna laugh about when he wouldn't eat veggies. My son used to pull the same crap, fussy as hell. Then he ended being 6'5" 260 lbs. Slimmed down to 220, and I think he looks skinny. I wish you the best. I actually envy you cause mine is grown. Step children need special treatment. They all need ATTENTION.....
