I need some help!!! My sister sent me her Canon XSI with a 4 gig SD card in it. I took about 6-7 pics with it today and I am trying to view them on a PC Computer. And thats where the issue starts, the file type is CR2, never heard of this type. The images don't show up and Windows Photo Gallery says an error occurred when trying to view the image. How do I change the file type/view the photo?

Canon Raw files... you need the utilities driver disc that came with the camera to use Canon's conversion, or Photoshop CS3 and higher can open them... just need to convert them to JPG format to work on them with other built in photo edit software...

or maybe check online and see if Windows Photo Gallery has a plug in to convert them...

you can also change the file format on the camera from RAW to JPEG Fine.... that way, you shoot in only JPG and dont have to worry about CR2 conversion...

Not just the codec. You'll need to download the Canon tools as well. They'll let you at least convert the RAW file to a jpeg.
