    After all these years I wonder why they changed the dash lights and grill for just the 2011 model? I think the redesign will be a 2013 hitting the showrooms in mid 2012.My dealer said March of 2012 it would be here.Very late for a 2012 model.

    If it will indeed by 4Runner styling (as most seem to think)? I kinda like the nose of the 4Runner... would look good on the Tacoma I think.

    Amsoil Synthetic ASL 5w30 Oil, Amsoil ATL Fuel Efficient ATF, Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 in front/rear diffs & transfer case.
    If they are going to update it, finally (at the very least), it's pretty obvious it would get teh Dual VVT-i 4.0 V6, but I REALLY, sincerely hope they have an updated Dual VVT-i 2.7 with at least one more transmission gear on the auto at the very least, and perhaps offer it in more cabs/trims such as a double cab 4x4

    I guess I still find it hard to believe that they'd update the grill for only one year (2011). I guess it's not a huge change in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps if any of the above rumors are true, then we'll see a 2012.5 Tacoma labelled as a 2013 model early in 2012?

    You basically answered the question. Its not a big of an issue at all. The 2011 grill is pretty similar to the new 4runner grill anyways. I cant imagine the investment is very significant to create a new grill for these vehicles. Same thing with the new gauge layout. These are small, insignificant changes. I wouldnt be surprised if they had multiple grill versions done up at one point and they implement one of each over the coming years. IDK.

    I really dont see a grill or gauge lights as that big of a hinderence to sheetmetal changes and an updated powertrain that is already in use by other Toyota's. I think the issue is immaterial.

    Look what Ford did with the Mustang - complete physical redesign in 2010, followed by a complete engine redesign with more physical tweaks in 2011. Makes you feel sorry for folks who plopped $$ down for th 2010 but there's no rulebook that says overhauls have to happen all in one year. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Tacos have the new engine next year without a major style change.

    Apples and Oranges. An updated grill and some gauges are hardly a big investment for Toyota, especially when there are design cues in the grill that are similar to the new 4 runner. Much less a redesign like what Ford did to the Mustang.
