Bilstein 5100 Vs King Coilovers

    2003 Extra Cab 5 spd 4x4 TRD Off-Road
    2" suspension lift with King Coilovers up front. Standard Bilsteins on rear with a Fabtech 1.5" AAL. Leer 100XL Shell.
    I know the majority of folks on here tend to go for the Billy 5100's, but I opted for the King Coilovers myself. I took my truck out on Memorial Day weekend and spent 2 days out at Camp Rock (SE of Barstow), and 2 days up in Big Bear, which gave my new coilovers a nice chance to break in, and a very nice mix of desert prerunning and rocky trail stompin. I must say... I was MORE than impressed with the Kings!!! I've driven friends trucks who run the Billies, and they're not too shabby... but I much prefer the ride and capabilities of my own truck now. What is your take on the two? Discuss.

    In reality dr/icon, Saw, fox, and kings are all the same just pick a color.

    I had 5100 and notice a fade when they get hot.

    Is there really even a comparison when it comes to the 5100's and coilovers? I think people go with the 5100's mainly because of the price point and the ability to lift the front end a little. If coilovers were in the same price range as the 5100's + springs, I'm sure most would go with the coilovers...

    right on.

    and alot of the kings/icon/fox etc have internal resis so when they get used alot the oil gets cooled down. or both, (external and internal)

    5100s have neither

    I'd agree with this. If Kings were the same price as my Eibach/5100 set-up, I'd have jumped on the King's, no comparison. The Bilsteins are just a ride improvement over stock and might take a little more abuse but I wouldn't put them in the same category as a King or Icon coilover set-up.

    ya i just went and ordered me the 5100s today for the little lift for the little price instead of getting spacers. but will definately upgrade to coils in the future...or just save a couple more G's and slap on a supercharger hehe

    I believe the 5160 series shocks are for heavy duty trucks, like 2500 and 3500 chevy's
    But seriously why are we even discussing the comparison of the two?

    OME is stronger around the lower bushing and the spring perch. Notice how thin the 5100 is at the bottom?
