wheel help

hey guys so here is the deal i have a 2010 trd sport with a revtek leveling kit in it. i am going to buy some 18in xd monsters. im gonna run 285/65/18 but i dont know what offset and backspacing i need. i want it so they stick out a little ways but not to much any help?

 

You'll need 4.5" backspacing, and then you'll need to trim some plastic in the fender well and possibly chop you cab mounts.

 

what size would i go if i didnt wanna trim any. toyota has a 2011 with the same lift and same size tires and xd rims i dont think they trimmed anything

 

265/65/18/ if you don't want to trim anything. I would bet the 2011 they have on the lot rubs like hell at full lock or any time the suspension flexes.

im thinkin about getting these rims...see ebay auction below......i have a 2007 tacoma...going with a king coil over....aal in the rear

what size wheels/rims do i need to be thinking of.....i dont wish to go too huge with the rim size....im thinking stay stock...17inch......any thought?...and down the road i wish to do the gears.....what do i need to change the gears to.....4.15?

haven't ordered them yet! but i do have 20in mambas that came on the truck i wanna get rid of because i wanna black it out

 

alright guys so i went to toyota on tuesday and talked to the guy that lifts them there he said if i went wit +18 offset i could fit the 285/65/18 will little trimming! they should be on tom! ill post pics asap

 

I hope it works out for you, but +18 offset is way too much. The wheel will sit too far into the wheel well.

If it's an 8" wide wheel, you need around 0 offset. If it's a 9" wide wheel, you need -12mm. Those are 4.5" backspacing.

The +18 offset may actually make the wheel sit even further in than stock (depending on the wheel width).

 

what do you mean chop your cab mount?
so if one were to get 18s for the truck, 265/65/18 is the size without trimming? how would 18s fit without lifting the truck?

 

You can fit 4.75 backspacing as well with that set up. Although you'll rub less with a 4.5 or more on your cab mounts. Just remember the farther away the wheel is from the hub the more wear your placing on your bearings. I'd stick with a 4.5 if I were you and go no more or less. If you don't want to trim put a 265/70/R18 on it and you'll be fine but If you want to look cool just cut the plastic and put the 32's on it like you want. The cutting can be completed with a pocket knife and now no one will know you did it. Unless their a TW member
