You just can't find em built the way you want anymore. I got a TRD offroad V6 SR5 w/ rear diff locker but I would've much rather had a V6 manual 4x4. The dealerships either carry loaded out or stripped down, no in between.

X3 on the two tone, that looks good. The only reason I bought my TRD Rugged Trail PKG. was I got a great deal on it and 4x4 access cabs were getting scarce around my area when I bought it because of the frame recall, didn't want to wait or look for what I wanted. I found this truck and grabbed it.

the TX is just an OR package with the skid plate, side steps, wheels and tires and exhaust tip. the TX Pro is all the same stuff PLUS the exhaust system, for someone who likes the rims, wheels, skid, side steps etc.. its cheaper to buy it all in a package than to buy and off road and then buy all the parts seperately.. its a smart buy for the right person, idk why ppl bash it so much, i guess just because its new

Same here. Would've been OK with just an SR5. Dealers in my area at the time had no basic SR5s, but they had TRDs in stock (which meant I could negotiate more aggressively on the TRD).

No TRD here, honestly just couldn't justify it and didn't want all the trim that came with it. The wife does want a hood scoop. Though I don't see any purpose to it at all, I'm sure we'll pull a trade somewhere at sometime. I also didn't want the stiff handling of the TRD/offroad suspension for regular commuting and road driving which it'll do more often. And I suppose that trim aside, I can upgrade as I need to, or can afford to. Most likely with better than the offered stock parts....I'd think.

The "stiff handling" really isn't that noticeable on the stock TRD shocks.

Bought a 2005 DCSB OR TRD and loved it but always wish I had a 4x4. Decided to trade it in at 99k miles and got a 2011 DCLB 4x4 SR5 non trd pkg, with the hope of adding my own upgrades over time. IMO you can't go wrong either way, make it your own.

I'm shopping for a used DC 4x4 right now... and from what I've seen, TRD adds resale value. So if it's only 2k new, and it makes the resale value 1-2k higher than without the package 5 years later, why not get it? Then again if you dont need the package, you dont need it. No biggie.

I got a 2011, 4 cylinder 4x4 with the SR5 Package. Honestly the OR package would've been nice, but that dang pyrite mica drew me in, not to mention I wanted a manual and 4 cylinder engine which was impossible to find on any lots around WV..

I'm happy though, I figure it just gives me even more reason to work on my truck ;)

In reading the first page or two I'm seeing a lot of people saying "Non TRD package with LSD" As if it's unique...?

Mine is an 09 SR5 with ALSD (ALSD in 2W, TRAC in 4H) Did the non TRD trucks before 2009 not come with any sort of LSD? Open diffs all the way regardless of drive?

    But, SR5 V6 AT 4X Access Cab

Right, the mechanical limited slip differential (rear only) was only offered on 2005-2008 Sport TRDs. The OFF ROAD TRDs all have a locking rear differential going back a dozen years. There was no Sport TRD before the 2005 model... TRD then meant one thing... Off Road, and a locker!

All 2009 + Tacomas have TRAC and AUTO LSD limited slip in H2, and TRAC in H4 (which is really the same function as AUTO LSD, but on all 4).

My 2005 OFF ROAD TRD (and my 2001) were normally open differentials, and that is why having the rear locker was so important.
