30K and general maintenace questions

I'm brand new to the forum and didn't see any other threads about this stuff. I've got a 2010 double cab, L/B, with V-6 eng. In looking at my "wty and maintenance guide" and asking two different dealership service mngrs, I'm getting different answers to the following questions.

---manual says replace plugs at 30K due to emission wty. issues. One dealer says yes, one says do at 90K

---manual says to replace rear differential oil in vehicles with "optional limited slip differential". What are they talking about as "optional". This is a standard item. Is there some other type of LSD that is optional? Both dealers say there's no such thing as "optional", yet manual mentions it.

---manual says inspect front diff. and transfer case oil, unless towing, which I don't. Dealers want to replace all. Is this overkill and just extra $ for dealer?

---I see nothing about automatic transmission maintenance. Any suggestions?

---Lubricating propeller shaft??? Are they talking grease fittings on u-joints because I don't see any/

The TRD sport has the LSD, the OR has a locking diff, non LS.

 

Change plugs.

 

So if I have a locking diff, then there is no need to get the "special" kind of oil for the differential? Front and rear can use the same?

 

actually you can use the same for rear and front and transfer case (75w90) they speced different for the front in the manual just to squeeze another 0.5mpg out for epa ratings.

easy diy specially with so much clearance under these trucks

 

1. replace plugs
2. replace rear diff fluid, no lsd additive necessary. replace transfer case and front diff fluid too (all use same fluid)
3. no tranny service till 60k (replace fluid at 60)
4. yes, there are fittings on u-joints on driveshafts

 

Damn, I only did oil change at 30K
