Spacers? Is it a bad idea

    3 inch revtek lift, 18 inch chrome rims, 285 60 r18 coopers ltz's, magnaflow, k&r intake, after market leather, and lots of lovin
    Hey men-
    I have an 05 taco longbed prerunner with a 3 inch lift. I have some coopers on them and I'm looking for a beefer look. I think kicking the tires out a bit to get a bigger look is the answer i'm looking for, but...
    I've heard the good and the bad with spacers. Any opinions, thoughts, or advise would be much appreciated. - Thanks ahead of time -

    getting there....
    spacers are a cheaper solution, and some of them are actually pretty nice(spidertrax).......but to me, them make the wheel area a weaker point with the spacers. you can do it though, and i doubt anything bad will happen, unless you wheel ALOT. a set of wheels with a different backspacing,although a good bit more costly, is another option.

    The main reason I chose the spacer route was because Silverback said he ran the Spidertrax spacers with no problems and he wheels the piss out of his rig!

    and thats the difference.................a "good" set of spacers will make a huge diffrerence.:)

    Yep and yep. Since I stayed with the stock rims, the backspacing was too deep to allow for wider tires and clear the UCAs. So the spacers essentially decreased my backspacing...

    Weather Tech window shades, Roll-N-Lock cover with cargo manager, Led interior bed lights, EZ down tailgate strut, SpiderTrax1.25" wheel spacers, tinted windows, second filter removed, Grillcraft Mesh upper and lower grill, Castrol Syntec.
    I got the Spidertracs on mine. I think that if you were to put wide rims on a truck that had little backspacing and makes them stick out far (without a wheel spacer) puts the same load/stress on the front suspension. I had wide rims on my Wrangler for 13 years and never had a front end issue.

    They are the EXACT same as running a wheel with a bigger backspacing on parts such as balljoint, cv's, axles. the only thing i've found is to make sure everything is tight you have to take the wheel off.
    You want hubcentric spacers, the spacer bolts to the original lug nuts and the wheel then bolts to the spacer. I've been running 1.5'' spacers front and back for some time now and they cause no problems what so ever.

    thats where I got mine. 1.5'' are perfect.
