super 40 flowmaster oraero turbine 2525 muffler??

ive always been a flowmaster guy but online videos suck and are never what they actually sound like .....i hear lots of good things about the aero turbine 2525 muffler......but the flowmaster is much cheaper....i like a deep tone not raspy or glasspack....i can deal with loud as long as its not raspy at all ...which sounds the best on our 4.0l v6 ????? i know this has been brought up before but id like to hear from people that have run both or herd both in person? thanx guys...i live in bethel ct if anyone is local

 

The aeroturbine is the best ive heard. No hint of raspy just mean loud. Ive got a 2540. 2.5 in 4.0 out if you would be interested.

 

4in out is huge...not sure how id put a pipe on that? did you run it? how?

 

i kinda wanted to dump it over my rear axle.....

 

yeah i ran it for about 2 years then i started getting tickets. its not really ment to have a exit pipe added on. i just had it stop in front of the rear diff and angled down. Just have your pipe mounted high for ground clearance and then angle down.

 

yeah man i think i wanna stick to a stock pipe dumped over axle......any input between the 2 mufflers? anyone else?

btw ...what are you running now?

 

2.5" with glass pack dumped in front of the rear diff. But still i would say the aero sounds WAY better than a flowmaster. I had a flow before my aero btw.

 

how loud was that muffler with the 4 out?

 

i said screw it just ordered the aeroturbine 2525.......but would still like to hear from others...

No louder than the videos of the X runners with an aero 2525 on youtube. I mean it's just in your face mean, raw, loud. Talking about it really makes me want to reinstall it . The cops in VA are just... prejudice against anything that's not chevy, dodge, or ford with a low exhaust........

 

I had a Flowmaster 40 series with duals out the back on my 4.0 2006. It sounded good. pretty low. not as mean as the Aero. I actually totalled my 06 and now looking for a new exhaust for my 09 4.0 Taco. after all the videos on Aero.. im thinkin i might go with the Aero and DTLT's..

 

I bet that combo will be insane!!! You'll have to post a video of that if you do it.

 

think it will be too loud? lol im driving around my stock 09 and i actually lke the quiteness of it. haha.. im just so used to my loud Flowmasters that the silence is nice. I dont want anything too loud, but deep, and of course for the performance.

 

I just put on the 2525XL today. Love the sound, but the volume and especially drone in the cab is a little much (for me). Its bad around 30-40 and over 75.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can keep the sound, but drop the volume some?

 

you got the XL model which already has the resonator built into it...the only way to quite it down is to add an additional resonator... :/

 

Huh, ok. That's why I got the xl, was the assumption it would be quieter...

So the addition of another resonator would do this? I don't mean to run the thread off subject, but could someone give me a little hint on resonators?
Thing such as brands, sizes, anything like that?

magnaflow resonators are nice... a friend of mine has used one.. real nice piece

 

I have the 2525XL in place of the OEM muffler. No drone except a tiny bit at 1450 to 1500 rpm.
Get some Dynamat (or equiv) and layer the back, floor and the doors. You will not hear the exhaust in normal city driving or cruising on the Interstate. Only when you punch the Go pedal. Without the Dynamat, the metal truck surfaces pick up the vibes from the muffler and amplify them. Like sitting inside a drum.
Also, my 2525XL is loud when cold. After a 5 minute warmup the drone/growl fades into the road/engine/tire noise. Weird.
