Sure NP. I've seen travel trailers with plugs like that, but they are usually a more hard plastic. As far as I know, the rear drum brakes are self adjusting so there wouldn't be a plug. I'm still cleaning my truck so I'll keep looking around to see if I can find where it goes

sorry to get you all excited ;), I should have mentioned the link was for a highlander. I imagine there is an oval shaped hole on the frame somewhere in a similar location. have a look in the daylight, I'm sure you'll find it.

Somewhere, a Toyota mechanic is looking all over the floor of the shop for the plug that he accidentally flung across the shop.

They probably removed the spare tire while replacing the leafs. (Maybe...). When you put the spare tire removal tool in the frame to lower the tire, I recall an oval ring about that size to keep the paint from getting scratched off.

    Just a thought.

I can't help it! :( Parts have a purpose and if I find a mystery part that means it's not doing its job. What if that job is really important?

No apology necessary. I should have read it beyond the picture!

You know what? That's what I'm seeing so far. ROUND ones, not oval!!

    Hoping that's the case here.

That's actually a good idea, I would have never thought of that! But they took the one key off of the keychain, not the key to the lock for the spare wheel. So I'm thinking they didn't remove it.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I still can't find it. I'm hoping some Highlander was next to mine when they worked on it. So for now, I think I'm going to wrap a pretty shoelace around the recessed area and hang it from my mirror as a reminder of something that drove me bonkers.
