paint speckles

so the neighbor painted his skiddsteer out in his driveway the other day. i got alot of over spray on my truck and was wondering the best way to remove the speckles?

I'm not an expert but have done a lot of research on detailing. I think your best bet would be to clay bar your truck. From what I have read it will remove overspray and a lot of other stuff in your paint.

However, I had this happen to my last truck, and they will never get all of it, so other than repaint you'll have to live with some over-spray that you'll always see.

oh we had a few kind words and he said that he would help with the cost of removal of the over spray. kinda hard to get to upset when he's 84 years old

I guess so... at 84, he's in good shape to be out and about painting and what not. I guess otherwise it would have been front page news.. "Local man suffers stroke during dispute" lol.

I say you either go to a good detailer and see if they can get it off, if that fails go to a body shop and get an estimate, then you have him file a claim through his homeowners insurance to pay for this mess.

 

Just get a claybar and take your time. If you have to, just do one panel a day until you get it done. It will take some effort, but it will be worth it if you have never done it before.

 

Go to a automobile paint supply store. Most will have different grades of clay...some are more effective on paint over spray than other's.

 

Definitely clay the truck. Most mild grade clays are available otc. Clay Magic Blue is a clear winner if you can find it. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong w/ a meguiars or mothers bar. If you find that you need a more aggressive clay, Clay Magic Red is what to look for. Might be hard to find. (or I have a few extra heavy duty clay bars in my basement, I could always sell ya one). The only thing is that w/ heavy duty clay, you may need to polish the truck to remove any minor surface marring that occurs from the aggressivness of the clay.
Anyway, good luck, and remember to use plenty of clay lube.

i had over spray on my tail gate and rear bumper when i got the truck, i cleared 80% of it up with mguiars clay. coulda got the other 20% but it was to damn hot and i was tired of screwin with it. but over all easy fix
