World Record 24.969 MPG in my V6 4x4

this is a true story. it was 102.8 miles one way, all interstate. temps in the mid 80s, and no breeze. before I left I filled up with Plus instead of Reg because it was a few cents cheaper. did the whole distance 60-62 mph on cruise control, AC on, windows up. then filled up with 4.117 gallons upon arriving at my destination. 25 mpg is by far the best ive ever seen, usually its about 18-20 combined average.

 

Just think of what you could have done hyper-milling behind a semi the whole trip.

 

haha. i was thinking that too. i may do that some if i go to beach agin this summer. even tho i hate it because i can't see much in front of me.

i forget where i heard this but driving with the AC on, on HWY speeds rather than having the windows down is better on MPG

 

Nope they are 265/75R16 Duratracs. Im running about 38/37 psi f/r

AC the whole way. i had a couple pounds of venison that i had to keep cold, just in a bag, not a cooler. Wind was more or less non existent, maybe a slight tailwind at times.

That v8 is in my other Tacoma. This one has the v6

 

26 mpg is about the best I've seen when driving around 55-60 mph on back highways long distances, based on scangauge readings (which have, when compared to fill-up calculations, been accurate). I don't fill up after a short trip like that though, so the best per-fill fuel economy I've seen is around 22.

yup this is true. The amount of wind resistance from the windows down is MUCH worse then using the AC. Was just on the radio here the other day too

 

Thats great gas mileage, well done. Good tires I found was a massive difference, and a tonneau on the highway.

A stock 245-75-16 tire will give about 2 mpg more than a stock 265-70-16 tire.They are the same diameter but the 75 series is more narrow.The wider the tire the lower the mpg.

 

that wasnt the case with me, I gained by going to 265/65/17 over the 245/75/16 because the bridgestones were MUCH better then the Dunlop
