Ok well i got called for jury duty, and im to report tomorrow morning. Its a huge inconvenience, im on midnight shift so my sleep will now be messed up this week, i have to drive an hour down into the city through rush hour and frankly i think its really stupid to go sit there all day when i could care less about the trial and will have zero interest in it and i dont wana be there anymore that the first day. So, if anyone has gotten out of it, legally, please let me know how you did so :) thanks

I'm pretty sure your employer still has to give you those days off, even though you're shifts don't interfere with it.

Also, not to be rude at all, but it's sorta your duty as an American to go!

Once you get there tell them you have work that night and need to go get some rest or something, they might understand.

I always get out of Jury Duty. My company writes a letter that says my job is a matter of national importance in the global war on terrorism.

I have a summons for Jan 28th and I work the grave shift also, my notice says my work can not make me work within 8 hours before I have to appear and can not make me work after 5pm of the day I appeared if I was there for more than 4 hours, but it is law by Nevada Revised Statutes. My report date is a Tues, so I can't work the Mon before or that Tues .

They're gonna ask you some questions when ya get there. Answer them in a way that you know they don't want to hear. For example, if they ask you if you are for Capital Punishment, tell them "Hell Yeah", and say I hope they fry his ass. That'll probably get you out of it.

Yup. They want impartial people. If you act like you believe he's either dead on guilty or no way in heavens heaven he dunnit, they'll reject your ass.

I tried here in Indy to get out of it, NO GO. They said report or else, I stated how I felt on key issues and they stated they didn't want to here about it.

They stated they would call before the time, they called and said I wasn't needed. But I had to call the following week to check. I called and again I wan't needed.

So I am out of it for now, but who knows.

That happened to me on my first jury duty. They checked us all in and then the judge came in and said the guy took a plea deal so there was not going to be a trial. I sat there for about an hour and made $13!
