JINX!!! :lalala: *happy thoughts, happy thoughts*

I will let you know. First impressions are good - it comes out of the can in a much heavier spray and it does seem to have a good, waxy texture to it. The other stuff I used was really diluted and only held up through 2 frosts and 1 rain storm.

haha I don't mind it too much. Actually I prefer camping in the winter because hardly anyone is out there. Just gotta know the right things to wear.
thats about how the stuff I use is. sounds pretty good so far!

OMG!! I almost melted my sleeping bag! I put it in the dryer just to freshen it up a bit and I thought I put it on 'air fluff' IE no heat... I was wrong. Good thing I checked it after about 5 minutes!

Well even though things got off to a rough start - 'flaming' sleeping bag and a 30 delay on my departure - the weekend was good! A little chilly but good. The weather was perfect all weekend and Yellowstone was great as always.

    I think I need a bigger truck though...its a little cramped in there...

Yellowstone requires that you keep all of your food and cooking supplies either in your vehicle or in the bear proof boxes at camp. Between my cooler and my supplies the whole backseat was full! Then add in tent, pad, bag, backpacks, camera equipment...*sigh*

well around here game wardens are pretty up tight....it didnt help me and a buddie wanted to go camping on lake chesdin....which i believe is illegal to do. we went fishing all day and it got dark so we just decided to ruff out the night. well temps dropped fast and we were cold. we got a fire going and all was good. i even picked up some trash that wasnt mine. then the warden came over and told us we were breaking the law and pointed out a no tresspassing sign that was about 15 feet off the ground. but he was just like put the fire out and leave early ill come by to see if you left or not. so all was good i got up and left a 6 AM lol i was scarred tho lol

i tihnk the entire lake is off limits to camping unless in a "campground" with is just full of RVs and trailers. there are so many perfect beaches that would be great for camping but they wont let you do it. and fires are a big no no. i have stealth camped out there before and been fine. oh well i think i am one of the few people who take lots of trash bags and pic up way more trash than whats mine so that usually sets me off on the right foot with the wardens

exactly. One of the places I go has these big cliffs and rock houses and people throw their trash down the cracks in these cliffs and leave everything all scattered around inside a rock house that they were not supposed to stay in... then had a fire in there so there is black marks from the fire all over the place. completely destroying the beauty of the place. :(

I have a couple of questions for y'all:

    1. I am looking for a mountain bike, used, my dad and I plan on fixing it up, figured cheaper than getting new, any brands that I should avoid or keep an eye out for?

    2. I am doing a backpacking trip leter this month, recently got a new pack from REI because the last one didn't survive my 70 mile trek last summer, I really like it but I just want a couple of suggestions on loading this one, anybody have experience with an Osprey Aether?

    3. New pillow for the trail? I am using a thermarest packpillow thing at the moment, kinda sucks, any reccomendations out there? Looking Cheaper but still light weight and durable, if not I will suck it up.

    Thanks!

as far as mountain bikes... look at used specialized, giant, cannondale, trek. Those are the better brands. I personally have ridden specialized my whole life and have not had a single issue. plus lifetime frame warranty. The thing with bikes is, you want to spend money on a good bike the first time because once you start having to replace shifters, derailleurs, etc., you could have already purchased a new bike or something a little nicer that may be built a little better.

the backpack seems to be pretty popular. If I am not mistaken someone in here just picked up an Aether not too long ago. I was looking at one as well. All the reviews I have read on it have been pretty good. Osprey tends to make pretty good products.

the pillow... I use a Columbia Cloud Haven II pillow
    [IMG]

It has been pretty nice thus far. Rolls up really nice into the pack. I think I paid $10 for it at Bass Pro.

i agree, i am a big guy and the only brand of bike that can take the abuse i inflict is specialized. they have been the best strength to weight ratio that i have found. i sold my specialized a few years ago and have been regretting it since.

yep! I hit a tree at 20-25 mph with mine... didn't do a lick of damage... I on the other hand... all kinds of f'ed up. I also forgot it was on the roof rack and went under a railroad bridge chipped the paint and knocked a shifter loose... thats it. I call it the cock roach.
