No, it's just one of my passions. Thought I'd start documenting it a bit more with some pics... Mexican food in particular is a passion, thinking of going down to Mexico to a cooking school for the next vacation. I think I'll wait though given the instability down there (don't want to lose my head!).

Since my wife and I don't have kids, I probably have a bit more time than the average person. If we had kids, probably wouldn't be making half the things I do. BTW, I have this insanely good pork verde recipe that needs hours and hours to cook, but it is ridiculously good (got it from a recipe book, not my original creation) if you want it. It's basically braised pork with tomatillos, chiles, cilantro, etc. in it. There's a lot of ingrediants and it take a little work, but well worth it.

So you do most of the cooking around the house or does she cook as well? I'm just curious cause it seems like with the newer generations, rolls have changed to where the men do a lot of the house work and chores now. Yeah that recipe sounds great! Just post up the whole recipe and I'm sure others will try it out.;)

Woody, you'd be amazed. Sometimes having kids makes you cook more creatively. Finding the right flavors and colors that will get the kids interested in eating the food you made makes for an interesting challenge.

Funny you say that. I used to date a girl with a kid, and I loved teaching him how to cook and letting him help. One night I made soup (he was around 4 or 5 at the time) and he didn't want anything to do with it. So a few days later I asked him if he'd like to make his mom some soup for dinner that night and he was all over that. So he helped me make almost the exact same soup for dinner and he was excited to eat it!

My brother and sister in law make all their own food for their infants, essentially just usually tweaks on what they're making for themself. They've never given them junk food... since they don't even really know what it is, they haven't developed a craving for it.

I do the cooking, she does the cleaning. I tell ya, I think she gets the bad end of that deal as I'm not good at cleaning as I go. I'm trying to get better at it. I just like cooking - we never really discussed it much, I just did it. She's a good cook too, but I think she's more than happy letting me do it.

Yeah it was my first time doing a beer can chicken. Once the beer started to boil and it flamed up my grill went to over 600 degrees. That's the hottest I ever saw it go, and I ve cooked a lot on it. I wish I could tell exactly how hot it actually went. But over all I had to watch the chicken alot while cooking but in the end it came out tasty and juicy. I usually dont like the whole chicken but this was suprisingly good.... and will def do it again.

For tomorrow's baptism: sausage and peppers and roasted garlic rosemary potatoes. Perfect day to get some cooking done, not too hot.
