yeah dude, thats what i've been saying about camburg

they have pretty much moved on to bigger and better things (trophy trucks). they are racing and building them and dont really have time for anything else right now, which is fine... except they have customers that they are leaving behind pissing in the wind, but thats another story

i remember them hyping up their up and coming SUA kit over on TTORA a few years back saying it was going to be so sweet and better than the others...lol

    no SUA kit still...

i'm with ya man, TC and DMZ all the way!

    Hi everyone...

bfogelma...I know you already scored a sweet deal on a TC kit, but I wanted to come in and clarify. I think you spoke to our new guy today, and I apologize for the info you were given. BUT....

As cr250jumper said, we indeed do offer the King shocks for the Camburg set up. The valving is considered proprietary, but all we have to do is specify for Camburg kit. They have a different top cap & internal spacer combo that they use to achieve the specified collapsed dimension.

Sorry for the confusion. Anyone that may have any other questions about this or any set up, please feel free to PM us here, or call and ask for Marco.

    Thank you!

now i've been doing a lot of reading on the CV axles with the TC kit, and its obviously a must to modify them. what is the best way to do this?

Buy aftermarket Tundra axles from Kragen or straight from Toyota?

Remove the boot and grind down the metal flange?

    Porche high articulation boots?

Who can chime in who has done this with a sturdy, reliable result and give me the lowdown?

I just really dont want to buy TC's "modified" axles for 800 bucks....

Wow Camburg haters. Fact is they say on the webcite exactly what shock is needed. They do not say you have to order from them. I have also seen you personally tell people that LT is not a speedy bussiness. They may take a day or two but I have always got a response from Scott @ Camburg

Deciding factor for me had nothing to do with a webpage description or time it takes to email me back. I bought Camburg because of the boxed arms and bump stops. TC does not have that to offer and in my opinion a bump stop is pretty important for LT. Emails, eh not so important

^Do either of you know your valving on your shocks? Curious as how Icon, Fox, and King compare in valving for Camburg kits

I hate to burst your bubble but that is soooo far from the truth.

10+ years ago we designed our kit originally around a Sway-Away 8" travel coilover. At the time a standard off the shelf KING or FOX 8" travel coilover wouldnt work since they have a longer collapsed length because their top cap threads internally taking up space within the shock. Both King and FOX and ICON for several years have offered a revised external top cap coilover that works great with our kit and has the correct dimensions.

Every manufacture including Total Chaos runs into these types of issues since shock manufactures don't follow a standard and they all have different measurements. Now if you're trying to maximize wheel travel and use all that the shock has to offer, well then certain shocks are better for certain applications based on what they were designed around.

Buy whatever coilovers from where and how you choose. We have our recommendations (FOX & Swayaway) and stock them specifically for these kits with the correct valving, lengths, spring rates and hose lengths, etc. In the end it's your decision to follow our recommendations or not ... I just get tired of saying I told you so. :) Not that I would.

I also forgot since we have shitty customer service we give TacomaWorld forum members a 10% discount. I guess all those that have taken advantage of that discount over the years feel the same as you.

Always feel free to contact us with questions.

Valving doesn't just cross over from shock to shock since they all have different piston designs. You can have a piston that flows alot with thick/stiff shims and a piston that doesn't flow alot with thinner/softer shims ride the same.

Just like one valving setup doesn't work perfect for everyone. You start with a baseline and if needed tailor to your specific truck & suspension setup and driving style.

Camburg and the actual shock companies can help you out with those recommendations.

No worries guys. Always good to hear when customers are having fun and happy with their parts, regardless if its Camburg or Total Chaos.
