Any word on if Toyota is going back to the compact p/u body style? I have the '06 and what I really wanted was the compact p/u. As it was I ended up with the smallest (2wd, 4cyl., short bed) that I could find. Do they still make the compact Tacoma for the world market?

Tacoma isn't due for a major redesign until 2013. You've got plenty of time...

I feel a hybrid coming on.

I have a '99 taco 4x4 xtrcab that I have had since '01, I'm 56 and my hunting days are over unfortunatly........... sigh. I'm looking for a new truck, the new Tacoma's don't make my left leg twitch, and I'm sorta waiting for the taco redesign in 2012 or 2013 but what I know about the A-Bat smaller, fuel efficent, totally out there design and freaking hot look. If Toyota is listening, I have already gone to the dealer and given my name and said put me on the waiting list so make the thing it will sell probably a lot better than the FJ cruiser and Highlander put together.

All I want is a new version of the older Tacoma, i.e. the compact 2WD 4 cylinder shortbed p/u!

I'm not bashing them, but if you want something smaller than a regular cab 5-lugger, you're in car territory.

its funny ... i had a 99 mazda b2500 (same as ford ranger) ... and those guys always worried that ford was gonna do away with the truck being small (if youre into em, they havent changed much since '93)
