Rear Window

Anyone have a solution for keeping the rear window somewhat clean other than putting one of those rear widow covers/shades. Every time we get a drop of moisture there are dirt streaks all down the back windows. I am getting sick of washing them constantly but hate the shade covers.

Any ideas?

 

i just keep a microfiber cloth and a bottle of purified water in my truck, then i can do touch-ups and dusting if i get some bird poo or rain streaks

 

clean the window really good with stoner invisible glass andnewspaper, the rain-x the hell out of it. then all you'll have to do for a while is wipe it off just a little bit.

 

I haven't used the Stoner stuff, but I have used Rain-X on it several times.

 

i need to go buy some rainX tomorrow, i forgot about that stuff lol

 

i tell ya man, the stoner makes the glass crystal clear(if you do it right and clean it with newspaper.).

I went a year without using windshield wipers b/c my GM had a broken relay or chip or something. Anyway, survived b/c of Rain-x. Safe? No. Smart? No.. Did it work? Damn straight.

 

well hell yeah....rain-x is awesome!!! try this........clean the w/s real good, then use some regular ol' turtle wax,buff that out with a microfiber cloth, then go over that with rain-x or vice versa and watch how the water flys off the windshield. even ice and snow crap wont stick to it.

I'm not familiar with "double clutching"

 

You wouldn't be. Double clutching is for manual transmissions.

Long story short. Before transmissions were synchronized you would have to clutch to take the car out of gear, let the rpm drop, clutch again, and shift into the next gear, and then release clutch and continue driving. Easy on up-shifts, more complex on downshifts.

Whoa! That's cool. Never heard of that. Is Bull Durham chewin' or smokin' tobacco? Chewin' tobacco is also good on bee stings.

I was but a mere pup when the last drive in closed in my area. I remember going to see King Kong (the 70's remake) in the original Ford supercab with my folks.

 

Is there a name for no-clutching? I remember back in the day I was a gopher for a shop that serviced heavy construction machinery. Drove a manual late 80's Ranger all over town. I developed a feel for the right rpms when I could shift gears without using the clutch at all. It was a sort of two-step process. Pull it out of gear, then when the rpms were right, put it into gear. Definitely easier going up than down. And I grinded a lot of gears before I developed the proper 'touch'.

 

Thanks for clearing that up. Although for the record i'm very familiar with manual transmissions. I drove manuals for 9 years before i got the Taco, this is my first automatic.

My dad had a 79 F100 that i use to drive in high school. I could do the same thing with it, in and out of gears with no problem without the clutch.

 

Clutchless shifting maybe??? I am familiar with the practice of doing it, though I have no idea what it's propper name is.

 

I know you can drive a manual. I meant no offense, I was just being a "sh!t disturber," and being a wise ass in regards to our transmission debate from last week.

As for double-clutching, if I remember correctly (from my friends who do the stuff) isn't it very "in" to double clutch in ricer-racing? Something about they think (either with or without support, I'm not sure) it saves the synchronizers and will lead to longer clutch life in general?
