These. It was so weird that my parents would buy these for me and my brother and then when the rubber band broke, it became theirs, and they would spank us with them. I never wanted a new one. But really, I'm okay.

It seems like most of the people around my town with kids that are like 5-8 yrs old already are the "don't spank because it ruins your children", but everyone my age and a couple years older say they will spank their kids or do spank their kids. I'll be honest, my generation is kinda messed up, but at least the majority I know are gonna actually discipline their kids.

X2 on the hose water. Hell, we were thirsty. Then again, there are those extra toes that sprouted from my left foot....

Spanking is like the mama wolf who bites the neck or ear to assert dominance and maintain order. If you're using it to inflict pain, or get out your anger, you're not spanking .. you're beating.

this. Unfortunately... I do not see enough parents giving their kids a swift swat to straighten the little brats out. I never got away with kicking and screaming in the middle of a store.

Hold parents responsible for poor parenting...What a concept.

If we can only do this in the education system!

Here's one. Welfare recipients are welcome to their monthly check, providing their child is successful in school. If their child is failing, receiving referrals for poor behavior, or just not willing to cooperate, then the welfare stops until the child demonstrates approrpiate skills.

When I was a toddler I was crying and screaming in the store and my mom warned me that if I kept crying she would stick my sock in my mouth. Well I didnt and she took the sock right off my foot and stuffed it in my mouth. I dont wear socks anymore... J/K. My dad would show us his hand (open hand, fingers tight together) and ask us kids what it was, our response was 'a spankin tool'. I was spanked when I was a kid and I turned out normal, I think.

I love it "a spankin tool" I am going to teach my son that. If they know what it is then the need to actually hit should be less.

I never got spanked. I got put in "time out," which was on the stairs and a timer was set. I don't have a problem w/spanking. But I agree w/everyone here, beating and spanking are two totally different things...
