The stock lowers are beefier than the uppers, but still very weak. the Toy Outfitters links are 1/4" DOM Tubing.

Not yet for me...but really considering trading the Tacoma for one.
I've looked at the brochure in other words...haha...

btw, is that really a 4x4 gear lever on the console?

might have to go ef with the local dealer...give one a test ride.

Yes there is. That is where FJ > Tacoma.

Manual FJ comes with full time 4WD so the lever just shifts you between 4 HI and LOW

Auto FJ has 2HI, 4HI and 4LO

ok, thanks for that information. Another question if i may?

So it's available only with the 6speed manual/or Auto and V6 correct?

Not real crazy about the 6speed manual from what i've read around here...and really don't like an Auto...
but it would be nice to have 2hi for a Hwy trip to the coast.

    Best,
    Paul

Correct. Exact same powertrain options as the tacoma (V6 powertrains). Plus the manually shifting 4wd system.

Not the same, I dont believe the 6 Speed tacoma is a full time 4wd system. The entire reason i would never get the 6speed FJ. I prefer an auto on the trails anyways.

    Okay, you caught me there.

I should say, the same manual 6 speed or automatic option as the tacoma. Thinking deeper, I don't believe the auto transmission in the FJ is the same one that's in the tacoma. They say the FJ auto is out of the V8 4th gen 4Runner.

The transfer cases are definitely different. The 6 speed FJ has the full time 4wd with manual range selection. And the automatic has a traditional 2HI, 4HI, 4LO transfer case with manual range selection. (Most likely the same transfer case found in the trail edition 5th generation 4Runner)

AND all options have the same 1GR-FE 4.0 liter V6 engine that is seen in the 4Runner, Tacoma, some Tundras and the FJ.

Yup. That too. Still not sure why the 2010 Tacomas still have the old engine. Maybe they aren't sure it is adequate for the Tacoma's higher tow rating?
