more likely it is because the FJ is Built in Japan, available world wide, and based off the prado chassis. I would imagine the whole like built on that chassis got the upgrade.

Nearly certain the 1GR-FE's are all built over in Japan. The ones put in american built units like the Tacoma and V6 Tundra are shipped here for final assembly. Automotive manufacturers rarely to never manufacture the same engine in multiple locations. I'm not 100% certain for Toyota but I know BMW manufactures all the engines for its South Carolina plant over in germany.

Good point about the prado frame since the new 4Runner also received the new engine in 2010. But really, the block is exactly the same as is the engine mount locations so I doubt that is it. The engines are interchangeable in the engine bay.

It's all in my head at the moment...

...and Toy Outfitters isn't all that far from anywhere. They have 3 full service bays from what I understand. Anything from an oil change to a solid axle swap. I do like the front bumper. 2" receiver one with headlight hoops and the stinger.

Oh, are we allowed to guess?

Screw you Manny, I think I am the only unmodded FJ, unless a TRD oil cap counts as a mod

    Lol. I'm mall crawl modded.

I totally hear you on the feeling that they'll go over easy, JD. My double cab Tacoma had a much more stable feeling offroading, but the FJ definitely maneuvers easier/better around obstacles. So when's the next FJ trail run?

Yes, definitely weird. I've seen 4Runner do the same thing. Just can't be going too quickly or else it feels like you could launch a midget off your tow ball
