Hey guys here's my situation. I bought the ToyTec 3'' lift with OME front coils and now my stock shocks for the front are way to short and can't extend all the way when I hit a bump or something. So I was wondering if anyone knows of a front shock with 2.5in extra travel? The Bilstein 5100s for the taco don't give any extra travel so those won't work. 2007 Tacoma Doublecab 2wd

Ya I would think that would work but ToyTec also seems to think the Eibach/Toytec front coil springs work with the 5100s and that can't be true at least not for full downward travel. Does anyone know the actual specs for the OME shocks?

I just got off the phone with OME and the specs for the shock for their coil is the same travel as the stock strut

when you lift you lose downtravel... unless you go long travel there isnt really much else you can do

Some say uni-ball upper control arms will give you more droop though. I don't know first hand but i have read that.

With the stock shock, a 3" lift coil will take almost all the droop travel out of the front suspension. If you want more, you'll need extended travel coilovers and upper control arms.

What would be a good extended travel strut?

    Yeah, what they all said.

If you have NO downtravel at all, I'm guessing you didn't use the 0" spring perch setting on the 5100s, or otherwise brodied up the strut assembly or installation.

But if you measured out at 3" of lift then yeah, you're just seeing downtravel loss.

I found I got a little droop back by going LR UCAs. Still nothing like stock downtravel, though.

How are you determining full downward travel? And that your shocks are too short?

If the shocks were much longer, the suspension would be able to travel too far, max out the ball-joints and CVs. Which would then lead to premature failure of the parts. Similar to an All Top-Spacer Lift.

I do still have some downward travel just I wish I had more because if i hit a speed bump or a bump to fast you can feel the front extend all the way and jolt the truck which to me a lifted truck should have great travel down and up. But after looking last night and taking the strut out and then pushing the lower control arm down I see that it maxes out about the same length as the strut.

It might just be a side-effect of a truck and if so then i'll get over it.
