Lighter socket removal

    Need to remove the lighter to install another power socket with cap. I can wiggle it out about one inch then it stops... what gives, literally. How do I remove the lighter socket.

    Now is that the same on all of them??? Mine have a clip on the back of them, clip has to be slid off for it to come off. For me to do that I had to take dash pieces apart. :confused:

    OK so I am still stuck on this BS lighter mod. I can pull out the lighter socket about two inches and it is loose now... I can spin it around no problem, I still feel it catching on something and I have tried pulling gently and not so gently and it will not come out.
    I am beginning to think I have a clip on this thing... if so can someone post how I get behind it... I probably will need to disassemble the entire lower dashboard from the looks of it.
