Good morning fellow Toyota enthusiast. I would like to pose a simple question which I’m sure has been asked a zillion times. I have searched on the site and found many threads dealing with the topic but somehow the answers always disperse into different areas . I respectfully request your indulgence. :)
I own a 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 V6 (4.0L) Double Cab. I am in the process of outfitting this vehicle to take a once in a life time trip to Alaska and back pulling a 17 foot Casita Travel Trailer. I bought the vehicle used with < 6K miles on it from CarMax and am very pleased with the purchase. The vehicle is stock, with the exception that I had the Suspension TSB applied after purchasing it from the dealer. The vehicle came with the standard 16/7 rims and P245/75R16 tires.
I would like to beef up the rubber on the vehicle without incurring any rub issues and/or the need to lift the vehicle in any way. Would it be safe to assume (I hate that word) that 265/75R16 tires would fit like a glove without having any rub issues and/or having to lift the vehicle?
    Thanks for your assistance.:oldglory:

Yes they'll fit fine. You might run into some slight front mud flap rubbing if you switch to an aftermarket wheel but no issues with stock.

I had the same question as the OP because most of the tire thread's deal with people beefing up rubber on TRD OR or TRD Sport models which have different suspension. Or the other threads deal with people that have non factory suspensions. He must have just been making sure before he drops the coin on rubber which could be an expensive mistake if done wrong. Plus doing a search can get pretty confusing for all the times this has been brought up

Pugga, no not really... but I do have a Phd with honors from The University of Life!

I'm gonna stick with the 265/75R16's.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

If one wants more meat to the tire, one can also go up a load rating...

Howard, thanks for the tip. Was thinking of up gunning with Load Range D and/or E. Current tire are load range C. I am mainly looking for good traction whilst pulling the trailer on black top and some possible use off road use (minimal).

    Best wishes your way. :)
