Cost to ship truck across country

I searched and surprisingly couldn't find a thread.

I am contemplating moving to Denver for the summer and wondering what my options are as far as taking the truck with me to enjoy some offroading in the Rockies while I am there. Can anyone advice how much it would cost to ship the Tacoma across country? Not all the way across but about 2000 miles. I can google up quotes but was hoping for first hand experiences and/or recommendations for companies.

I have shipped several times in the past but work took care of it all those times so I didn't know how much was paid out. Thanks in advance folks, much appreciated.

In '06 I shipped a Dodge 2500 from Sarasota, FL up her to the Twin Cities. It's a little over 1600 miles. I paid about $1100.

That was before the big fuel price bump.

But, as an FYI, I'm getting quotes for a car now from the same area and they're about the same. I'd guess you're looking at $1500-$1800 or so.

Just make sure and use someone insured. Try and get they're DOT and MC number if you can. If you use uship.com most reliable carriers will post that info anyway. Gives you a chance to check up on them a little.

I am considering a road trip, trust me It's just a question of whether I can make the time. I would need at least 5 days to make it an enjoyable trip.

 

I'll drive it there for a plane ticket back and a case of corona's or yuenglings

I just shipped a car from DC to CA and it was $1300. The quote for my truck was $1500, but I decided to drive it across the country. I went through prostar auto to ship my car.

Check out movingscam.com. They give a lot of great advice on how to get the best deal on moving and recommend a few car shippers.

 

To give you some ideas. I had a Chevelle shipped from Miami to Houston for about $500 and another from TN. to Texas for about the same price.

If someone can verify this, I have heard of a website where drivers are out of work and needing jobs. They bid on work on a website but I can't find it.
I was going to use them to have an engine shipped but the deal fell thru. Anyone know?

 

Pretty much most if not all drivers bid on transporting a vehicle. It all depends on which direction of the country they're heading.

 

In Canada here I heard that you can ship in the train too. It's not something I would have ever thought to look into. I was told they'll send someone to pick the car up, they put it on the train and then drive it out to the new address. Was supposed to have been around $1200 for coast to coast.

The train isn't something I would have ever thought to look into but it might be worth a look.
