If I'm a good boy, I'm hoping to get a Droid 2 as my Daddy's Day gift. I want to hardwire a car dock into my Tacoma and was hoping for some fact checking from all you smart folk.

I know that the car charger drops the vehicle's 12V down to 5V and am thinking I can use one of these to hook to the dock without chopping my car charger up:

    What do you think??? :notsure:

I have a droid X, the car(Verizon) docking station is strange. It will not charge the phone most of the time. I have to take it out of the docking station and plug the connector directly into the phone. it's great when using GPS until the battery gets low.
