So I am in the market for a mud tire. I have gather prices for some tires and I need your feedback on the best tire for the money. I am looking at 265/75r16. Local and internet deals.

    BFG KM
    local shop: can't get them
    Tirerack: 855 shipped less M/B

    BFG KM2
    local: 930 out the door
tirerack: 890 shipped less M/B (back ordered)

    Firestone MT
    local: 880 out the door
    tirerack: 846 shipped less M/B

    Edit: added Goodyear MTR
    local: no quote
    tirerack: 886 shipped less M/B + 50 rebate= 836 shipped

    edit: added Dick Cepek MT
    local no quote
off road toy store: 818 shipped less M/B
I think I am leaning towards the local KM2's, but the KM's got my attention. I would like your feedback and if you have a better idea.

    Thanks guy!

If you get KMs make sure to buy a couple of spares since they're being discontinued. The KM2 is stiffer and a higher load rating which is great for wheeling but will give you a very harsh on road ride. To be honest one of the best deals on muds for the money are those Hankook Dynapro MTs. Monkeyproof has been running them for a couple months and they've done great for him as a DD tire and a trail tire. They're a lot cheaper than BFGs too! Hankook isn't some knock off Chinese brand either. I went with the BFG MTs since I got a killer deal on them and they're an off size you need to order before you go to any tire shop in Los Angeles. I'm somewhat wishing I had some KM2s now but I don't want to ever go back to a load rating E tire again and that was the only rating they had for 255 85 16.

Forgot to mention that this with be trail only tires and not DD, I got my rugged trails that will be on pavement. they will be going on some wheelers type b rims.

Not a fan of Nitto, and do have link to toyos on summit, couldn't find em on there.

Ya I couldn't find them either, Toyo MTs would be my tire of choice but I have only found them more expensive than almost any other MT...

Check out the Kumho Road venture MT. On tire rack they're only $155 a piece and i've heard some good stuff about them. Also the Goodyear MT-R's are $746 after $50 rebate on there.

the Toyos are super popular around here, and for good reason. They perform good and are quite quiet on the highway and come with good wear characteristics. Problem is they really are one of the most spendy M/Ts out there.

Ive heard the trxus MT perform well but wear out in 20k miles when run on the street so i'd only get them if you were running them dirt only like you said.
I've only heard great things about the Dick Cepek Mud Countrys! I haven't actually got to see them perform 1st person but I can say they look nice in person though.

I just put a set of MT's from Pep Boys on... they are a rebranded cooper tire called Dakota MT. they were half of everywhere I priced no matter what...then on top of that if you bought 3 you got a rebate for the 4th free...catch is you had to pay for all of them at the time then mail the rebate for the $138.oo
so for less than 500 you can get 4 new MT tires. I love them so far.
