Man, Im very sorry Bruins fans, but watching the hit over and over again, the ONLY thing he did wrong was it was a bit late. That was proven by TSN. But if it was .25-.5 seconds faster the same thing would have happened, because he wasnt ready for the hit. I cant believe he was suspended. Thats NOT the right call. I hope with everything that Horton is ok and has a perfectly normal career from now on, but theres no way we can have that hit out of our game. That hit is what hockey is about. Toughness, hitting, keeping your head up, and being physical.
We NEED those hits in our game, its what makes it so unique
EDIT - two things need to happen
1 - players need smaller gear, because his sholder pads is what connected to his head
2 - people stop racing to the "rule 48" conclusion. Lots of clean hits can hurt players and its just bad luck

Just because they are fans. But I honestly dont even think he would have got kicked out if it were in Vancouver and the fans weren't snapping. Anyway, like I said I hope Horton is better and we see more of these hits

See i undersatand what you guy are saying about that hit, but i guarantee if one of the sedins was hit like that you guys would be all up in arms, just saying i know you will deny that, but that is exactly what would happen.

 

I 100% would not. Im not a canuck fan by an stretch. Just my honest opinion about it

 

It was a shitty late blindside hit to the head and we don't need that garbage in the game. What we need are clean hard hits that serve a purpose like removing someone from possesion of the puck.

 

So all anyone has to do is just not look forward and look back at their pass to avoid getting hit? I hate the word blindside, because people use it too loosely.
Marc Savard hit was a blind side. David Booth was a blind side. Paul Kariya was a blind side. But Hortons hit was not. If Rome wasnt wearing body armor (like 95% of the league) and Horton didnt get knocked out from hitting the solid plastic shoulder pad, it would have been a 2 min interference call (if that, I highly doubt it would have been anything), and we wouldnt be talking about it anymore.
Just my opinion though

 

I agree, if he didn't hit him to the head with his shoulder there would be no penalty but thats not what happened.

 

The hit was late, Rome should not have hit him like that. If it was Kesler or one of the Sedins being hit like that I would have freaked. It wasn't a good hit - too late.

Ya I agree. I know as honest I think Im being, I really cant comment if I was not either the players team who made or taken the hit. I would clearly feel different if I were.
