Finally figured out my clanking/banging noise

For the longest time I've heard this banging/clanking/rattling noise coming from the drivers side front suspension.

Well today I rotated my tires and decided to try and figure this out. I jacked my truck up, took the tires off and grabbed the drivers side UCA and tried to move it around. Guess what, the darn UCA moved around on the uni-ball and made the same noise i've been hearing! Feels great to finally figure this noise out.

But, when I tried to tighten the bolt that goes through the uni-ball, the bolt wouldn't even move, its on there tight. Why else would my uca be moving around on the uni-ball? The UCA would kinda go up and down on the uni-ball - movement that it shouldn't be doing. What do now?

 

Put my truck back together, until I can figure out how to fix this. But I found this pic online to give you guys an idea of what I mean

When I grab the UCA it moves around on the uni-ball, like up or down and left to right. If I do it fast enough it makes a 'clunk' sound, that I'm sure it makes when I've been hitting bumps in the road. I've tried tightening that bolt, but it seems to be on there really tight. To get at that bolt properly, I need to have the lca jacked up high so the uca is more level and I have better access. Otherwise that bolt hides to far into that hole. How do I do this? I might not have been able to tighten it more because I didn't have the lca jacked up high enough. Maybe the lca was pulling down too much on the uca, making it impossible for me to tighten up that bolt? Hmmm, I think I need to jack up the lca more to tighten up that bolt more. Am I making sense here lol?

 

10,000 miles or so.

I'm going to put the truck on jackstands, front wheels off, then use my jack to lift up the lca up really high to take off the pressure on the uca. That way I can make sure that bolt is on there nice and tight. After that, not too sure what to do
