Need a quick answer on removing front shocks

if i remove the bottom bolt and the three outside bolts on the upper part, and leave the center bolt alone, will my whole shock assembly come out?

 

i rented a spring compressor from napa, i was just making sure on how to remove them shocks, and the benefits of IFS are much greater than any downfalls, IMO

yea yea... i will be ok, what do i need to remove to get the front shocks off? or do i just gotta like struggle with it to get it out lol? cause the arms wont go down far enough for me to remove the lower shock

 

Just dont touch the center bolt on top!!!

 

got that part, i removed the 3 upper bolts, 1 lower bolt, and the sway arm bolt, but the sock is like pushing against the lower a-arm

 

It's a pain in the butt but it is possible. ya gotta finagle the C/O around everything. It will help to drop the sway bar too.

I removed the sway bar it made the job allot more easy. Also used a huge pry bar to wedge and pry down on the lower controle arm to give myself even more room. I did the whole job in about 1.5 hours.

good point -- push the LCA down -- it will give you that little bit you need to get the C/O out.

 

i cant get the assembly out.. i removed the sway bar... but the spring is just to big of a diameter to fit between my tie rod and a arm

 

lots of screaming... with cuss words...

 

I brought it down as far as it would go then, i brought it out from he top. It takes some playing with mut dont get fustrated it easy. I forgot that i did remove the tie rod, just take the bolt off and bang the side (NOT THE TIE ROD!) with a hammer and it falls right out. Sorry i did this a long time ago.

 

I was never able to remove the front strut assy. without removing the two 19mm bolts on the lower ball joint.
3 minutes to save you 3hrs of the cursing, wiggling and jedi magic.

 

So did you get it out??

I know this probably doesn't help much, but when I removed my coil over they pretty much came right out. I did go ahead and pull the skid plate to drop the sway bar completely. This was probably not needed, but took about 5 minutes at the most and made it quite a bit easier to get around in there..

 

ya, i removed my sway bar and undid my tie rod ends..... compressing my shock was easy as hell.... first side i used a hand wrench cause it was left in the frame and wouldnt rotate, with the second one out of the frame i just used an impact, it came with two spring compressors and i put one on each side of the coil and alternated tightening them down with an impact.... then i did my rears.... and i am currently sitting in the dealership getting my rear tsb and my free alignment for my newly revised suspension
