it can probably be done, but only with a closed-type intake box. i dont think it would work too well with my airaid,or a k&n system

i was thinking that it could be done to fit the stock box...same location as the volant one...

oh yeah definitely, and the air flow should have a pretty good increase too man, enough to where you can tell a difference. i dont know how different the locations are for the 2.7 and the 4.0, but i think either way, it can be fitted to both.

I am curious. Is this supposed to get air from between the upper radiator support and the hood? I am not too sure how much more air it would really pickup, but in addition to the standard intake - it wouldn't hurt.

BTW - I changed the title to include the 4.0L

I'm glad you started this discussion. I just e-mail Volant tech. today inquiring about the use in earlier model 2.7's and/or whether they plan to develop one or not. I have not received a response yet. On their site they advertise the CAI kit for the 2.4/2.7 97'-03'. I also wonder where this "scoop" was to be positioned.

looks like it goes over the radiator, but that lip hangs down to pull in air from inside the grille

What if you cut open your sealed hood scoop...you think it would take in more air then just from the grill...or would that cause vapor lock or water issues?

I would think anthing you do to get cold air and not water or bugs in the system would help.

Hey Hodges83, just saw your pic's of you taco. Looks great! What did you do to get the lights in the bed? I might do that since Toy. was too cheap to give ups a cargo light.

Hey jhodges83...Do you have any problems with opening your scoop?...water getting in wrong places?

Oh yea I bought some lights to do that bed light thing just like you...How did you wire it? I want to put a switch in one of the spares, to the left of the steering wheel.

thanks fellas...all i did for a quick install was i mounted the switches into the lil flip out storage cubby below the stock switches. eventually, i'll get some stock type switches and install them in the normal slots and label them.

EDIT: as for the water, there hasnt been any in there that i've noticed.
