    Thought I'd share a picture of the camper I built. Great for backpacking and naps. Rock Solid down the freeway at 70 mph. 600lbs.

    Most of the time it is off the truck on the camper stand. One man operation. I used to bolt the sides to the stand (took myself and one of my boys to do this) until I came up with this idea.

    I was out camping with a bunch of cub scouts and one of the fathers critized and yes poked fun at my camper. I told him that since he drove a BMW he wouldn't understand. I guess some people will never get it. :confused: I have had far more compliments then complaints (mostly from girls and guys who didn't want to get their cars dirty :)).

    I like the camper. It is especially nice how you've designed it for your exact needs. I've been contemplating doing a folding plywood shell for the times when I need to evacuate. I'll be sure to post up pictures of my solution when I start doing it.

    Don't worry to much about my feelings. I have 4 kids and they love the camper. Whatever happens here doesn't really matter. I have had many great backpacking trips with this camper and will have many more.

    The inside is partially finished. The sides and top are insulated and covered with 1/4" finished wood. The botton has insulation as well. I built the camper so I could stand straight up and sleep 2-3 small children above the cab. I have a place to sleep running the width of the camper and a place to store gear underneath. I have a Coleman stove inside for cooking. I don't have any current pictures.

    This is an evolving camper. As needed I add creature comforts. Next a coffee maker and an extra battery under the hood.

    Well, it's a mediocre idea. I don't want to have a full time shell. I don't want my wife freaking out that all our stuff is getting wet. I don't want to store a rigid shell for the other 9 months out of the year. Also, I'm cheap. A folding plywood camper fits my needs. I'll be sure to install a set of truck nutz and just seal the plywood so everybody knows it is plywood.

    We have a couple users here that have installed an extra battery. I would guess that you already have an extra inverter installed. Are you running LED lighting in there?
