First off, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section-if so, please redirect me- But I think my first mod for my Tacoma is going to be a CAI, and I'm leaning towards a K&N 63 Aircharger series... Has anyone put a CAI on their Tacoma? And if so, what sort of boosts or gains did you notice? And if anyone knows a better company than K&N please feel free to post, I just want to make sure I get the right one. Any other advice on this topic is welcomed too. Thanks!

I have a 63 K&N and I saw my MPG go down because it alters the airflow past what's called the MAF or Mass Airflow Sensor. In a nutshell, yes you will see gains BUT, you should look into what's called the URD (Underdog Racing Development), MAF Calibrator. If I were you I would type in CAI, K&N and MAF into the search function of this website and you will find tons of posts. MANY people have posted the very same question you are posting so go check it out and feel free to ask specific questions to our members.

Does URD Offer a CAI that isn't a TCAI? Those cost a bit more and I imagine could corrode... Thanks, I'll check it out. But I thought CAI's would, if anything, improve gas mileage? Eh... How much of a decrease?

i'd just get a K&N drop in filter, you're stock intake system is pretty much a "cold air intake", that's what i did anyways

Yeah, actually today a buddy of mine took a look at my stock intake and said he didn't think a CAI would do much for me... So what difference did just dropping that filter do for you?

So what would you recommend for a first mod to my Tacoma?

Wait, headers lose bottom end power? How? That's not good.. Also, clicked your banks link. I like it. How much were they?

Why would headers and CAI's decrease low end? Not that I don't believe you, I've just never heard it.

IMHO I think any aftermarket CAI is a waste of money unless you plan on adding a blower/super charger. Your stock intake is good already as is. You may want to replace the stock filter with a K&N or afe drop-in type filter to save you from throwing out a filter every 10-15k miles.

Yeah, if anything I'll just get a K&N Filter... Is it possible to get the 360/cone shaped filter rather than a flat one? I hear those create a vortex and offer more HP.

I see. And yeah, I was hyped up about TBS for a while, until I read up on them. Oh well. Anyway, I've always wanted to ask this... What do those top filters do? The big circular ones? Sorry I understand that I sound VERY naive in my wording. Lol.
