What did you really expect, with the politically correct bullshit we have to put up with daily in America . The word "God" is forbidden to be mention in our schools , now they want to remove God from our currency:eek:. We are becoming a socialist state !

How does removing god from currency, not pushing your god down my kids throat, or political correctness make this a socialist country? As far as I can tell socialism is independent of religion, in other words you can have a religious state that is also socialist (or communist for that matter). Likewise democracy does not require religion, and would probably do better without it in my opinion.

Fuck self righteous christians, jews and muslims who want to force their religion on others.

The difference is I am happy to let you have your religion, just stop trying to get it taught to my kids in the public schools, stop shoving your belief in a god in my face on the coins and the pledge of allegiance.

It's funny how it seems that people somehow feel inadequate if the country isn't somehow actively affirming their choice of religion. What's wrong with leaving religion to the people and keeping the government out of it?

    in all due respect.........

you set our 'symbols' in a different perspective for me. Cool, thanks:)

We could teach our kids about our American forefathers and about their 'symbols' and values.(historically speaking) but we could also choose to tell them there is not one of these 'Gods' around if we choose. I would like to think my kids would listen to me.

if anything, out of respect for our forefathers it sounds.......:)
    and your thoughts exactly are.....hummmm.......;)

God is the basis of morality. He is the one that says don't lie, don't steal, don't cheat, don't kill.

When you raise your hand in court and swear to tell the truth, who are you swearing to? Can't say the court, if lies weren't at their basis immoral then they couldn't be illegal, since there is no basis for their being wrong. Where is it the courts got their belief you need to tell the truth? Goes back to the "false witness" clause.

Your new neighbor has a hot wife. What is it in you that says "not right to wanna bang her"? If your parents told you that was wrong, where did they get that belief?

Your buddy just got a new toy and you really want it. Law says you can't take it. Again, our laws are based on Gods laws. No God...no laws..why is it not right to just take it?

In God we trust. If not him, who? Your neighbor that wants to steal your toy and bang your wife? The courts? There's a lot of innocent people rotting in prison, and a lot of guilty ones walking around. Your parents? Didn't they lie and tell you there was a Santa Claus?

Not trying to say anyone should believe in God. Just saying the basis for our very morality (and laws) is based on Gods rules. Without them, it's a free for all, everything goes, no penalties.

Personally I believe that God is one primary belief that our country was founded upon. I do not believe in organized religion but I do believe that somewhere in the vast universe that we are floating around in that there must be some higher power (God) and thoroughly believe, through my life experiences, that he loves us all despite what we believe.

Everyone has the right to speak there mind on this and thats why I serve my country. To ensure they receive that right and hope that my children maintain this right as they reach adulthood. If you don't like it out our currency speak your mind and vote, and if our government decides to take it off well then so be it. If they don't then don't complain and move on.

As far as our economy goes right now I don't understand why anyone would really want to waste millions even trying to change the currency. ???

As for me and my house we will serve the lord.

    Wrong!

I don't need the concept of a god to do the right thing, and if you would kill others except you fear the burning lake of hell you are just a well controlled sociopath.

Try living by the golden rule: do unto others as you would have others do unto you. It works for me and no magic man is required.

I base it on thought. I wouldn't like it if someone stole from me, so I won't steal from them. I haven't found a situation this doesn't work in.

Edit: I guess the term is empathy: being able to put yourself in another's position to see things from their point of view.

    That works. :)

I dunno. It's like I was saying to my brother (a self proclaimed atheist), I believe in God. It's cheap insurance. ;)

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
i am far from believing in any religion and mostly agree w/ LL7. i dont think that it should be removed, but i also dont need people knocking on my door and trying to get me to join their cult or stuffing pamplets in my face as i walk down the street either.

EDIT: i dont try to force my non-belief on anyone else and thats what this country was created for....religious freedom...freedom to believe what u want or to not to

You're right we don't seem to agree on much. If you were local I'd be happy to sit down and have a beer with you and discuss things.

Keep in mind the founding fathers were not of one mind on this subject either.

Agree. I'm polite with them to a point, then it's time to get rude. And I can be very rude.
